No debate here! It was messing up Geno's hair on the ESPN post game, on court interview.

She did a shadow performance again on the post game presser.

Not a shy freshman anymore.

If Dee was watching, I am sure she was laughing her a-- off.

In terms of plays during the game, I thought that layup Stewart made from the left side of the court late in the game was amazing. I think Kelly passed her the ball and Stewie drove to the basket and laid the ball in over Anchonwa while avoiding the charge. Wow.

That was my favorite, too, the swooping drive + extended lay-in. Unstoppable by anyone not named Griner!

She had a couple great drives - the one you mentioned and the one where she drove straight on, and shot a tear drop over the defenders was another great play by her. Both of those we rewound and watched a few more times. Great stuff for sure!

But I agree with OC - seeing Geno stick out his tongue at her, and seeing her mess his hair up right after was priceless!

Seriously. I just can't see too many other "high-profile" coaches sticking their tongue out at a player, on national TV, and have the player grin right back atcha, and go for the hair muss. Not Pat, Muffet, Tara, Kim (blood would flow if you messed that hair), Brenda, Andy (your hand would just slide off),...maybe Jeff, Harry (what hair?), Doug..

Am I missing anybody? I think it would be particularly tough for a female coach to be that "undignified"..maybe Rizz..

Achonwa might as well have not been on the court on that play.

Figure the odds of a female player messing with the hair (or the shoes) of a female coach. Even I know what's off limits.

Stewie was fantastic last night and gave UCONN Fans a preview of just how good she is going to be in the next three years. The future is very bright for UCONN.

Raggedy-Ann-1951.jpg

Something about how she moves and swirls around reminds me of my daughters old Raggedy-Ann Doll. No matter how you dropped, twisted or pulled it you could do it no harm and it was always ready to play (with).

I loved Lawson's comment after the game...with wide eyes..."I have seen the future...!!
Absolutely. The three to watch are named Breanna, Morgan, and Moriah.

I loved that one. I think the defender thought she was going to get a charge. That move sets her apart (among other things).

Since the Gatorade dumping victory celebration isn't allowed in basketball arenas, is this hair mussing act going to become UConn's game-ending celebratory rite? Two players distract Geno and another sneaks up from behind and messes up his perfect coif while he yells back, "Don't touch the hair!"

Have to agree! You beat me to the punch here, I was going to post about the same. Simply had to hit the sack right after that move.
Maybe this could become Geno's new carrot on a stick. Drop 29 on a formidable opponent in a must win game and you get to mess up my hair on national TV.........

So have I. At the 2:12 mark of the ESPN video highlight, if that layup were to bounce out, Stewie will one day dunk it back in. She came very close to the rim on that play.

Actually, there was a post-three moment, where she turned and ran back on defense, clapping and smiling... It was not about anyone, any 'tude, any message -- just about how much fun she was having playing a game she loved.

She reminded me of Ann Strother with that reaction. Ann would display the same exuberance/joy playing the game at times, especially during her first two seasons.

Have to disagree. The best Stewie moment came with a few minutes left when Diggins attempted a 3 pointer from the left wing, just in front of the ND bench and Stewie came flying out to block it. Stewie failed to get there in time, but Diggins went down like she'd been shot even though she hadn't been touched. I guess given the desperate circumstances it worth a try, but one of the more classic Diggin's flops of all time.

I thought 2 plays at the end of the 1st half Kelly got a block outside, and Bria caught the ball close to the baseline, dribbled down court Breanna was just outside the foul line sealed off the Notre Dame player , Bria stopped sank the jumper. Shortly after Breanna sealed off another player and Kelly had an open lane for a layup to end the half. Those don't show up in the box score, but reflect on the outcome of a game 2 easy UConn baskets.

Another for the not-a-play column: I love how much enjoyment she's taking from her Final Four moments. She is so hard on herself when her play is below her standard, she works her ass off, and now when the rewards are coming in, her pride is radiant! Her after-game presser with Kelly was one to remember.
