Let's see what Rebecca has to say at the end of the year. She showed an alarming tendency to emulate the ESPN shills last year in the NCAA's. I'd be willing to bet her opinion has changed after this years tournament.

Is there reallya question?......Lets have the conversation after next Monday's game..........Chiney is avery good player in the Pac 12.......She has a very limited cast around her and will put too much pressure on her to do everything for Stanford.......Lets review next Tuesday morning Nov 12th after the Stanford game at Gampel......

It is very possible that KML and Stewie split votes that might otherwise put one of them over the top.

1. I am VERY surprised that KML never gets mentioned in any of these contests. Her consistency is at least at the level of Chiney's and (so far) much better than Breanna's. She scores, rebounds, and impacts a game as much or more than either of them. If all three were in the WNBA draft next spring, I think (depending on positional needs) that I might take KML over the other two.

2. Isn't it obvious that Rebecca can't possibly pick a UConn sophomore over a non-UConn senior without being castigated as a non-objective homer? Give her a break!

While CO is a very very good player I have no doubt that Stewie is a better player right now! Yes, CO is an amazing rebounder but her offensive repertoire is limited and she's got no mid range shot to speak off. Stewie on the other hand can do it all and with more strength will be impossible to stop on the college level and afterwards in the pros.

How do they have this Ogwumike V. Stewart poll debate and then release their top 5 per position and Chiney isn't even one or two in her position?

I think she's a great player as is Stewie but it's just confusing..

By the way, no way is Achonwa better than Ogwumike**

Oops, missed that alphabetical notation. But my opinion still applies.

Achonwa is listed before Ogwumike based on alpha order only.

I think I see 4 players from one school on those lists. Hmmm.

I think there is one omission. Bria is at the wrong position. I think MoJeff could be a top-3 PG by the end of the season.

Yes, Bria is not our point guard. MoJeff is. Bria is our 2 guard just like last year.

The great thing about UCONN's schedule is that we will see exactly how good these players are this year. No doubt in my mind that Sims is the best point guard but we shall see how the rest of these unstoppable players do against UCONN defense. That ten second rule is going to wreck a lot of teams this year. I would love to get an honest interview with these players after they play UConn. Maybe it would go something like this: I was taking the ball up court and MoJeff met me at 3/4 court and kept poking at the ball everywhere I turned. So I final turned the corner on her and there was Bria in front of me. Changed directions and there was MoJeff again. Ran like crazy around her to get passed the center court line and then Bria and KML trapped me in the corner. I went to pass and Breanna tipped it with those long arms and MoJeff picked it up and that was that. So I went back to inbound the ball and there was Breanna protecting the inbound pass with the full court press.........

So, the ESPN team picked Stewart over Chiney at the power forward spot. Monday's game just became more interesting. Chiney will likely guard Stewart; it'll be interesting to see what Geno chooses to do defensively against Chiney. UConn beat Stanford last year by 26 at Maples and Stewart didn't play a major role. She played 24 minutes, scored 9 points (2-7 FGs) and grabbed 6 rebounds, but it was KML and Dolson who led the way.

The UConn coaching staff almost always finds a way to shut down the key player on an opposing team. Think back to how many times the "star" ends up with perhaps no points at half time. So, it doesn't much matter how highly a player is rated, they are rarely able to overcome the UConn team defense.

During last years game Dolson covered Chiney and did a great job of frustrating her.

Among us curmudgeons, you gotta love those who write these questions. They phrase the debate as who is "your pick for preseason player of the year." What they really mean is who is "your preseason pick for player of the year." How would anyone know who the best preseason player is? And who would care?

UConn has too much talent for one of their players to get player of the year, but their goal never is about individual awards, but the National Championship at the end of the year.

It will be interesting to see how much CO has added to her game over the summer. I don't think that she is one to be satisfied with her game and I suspcet that she will be working hard on her mid-range shot.

However, Stewart is just naturally better than anyone in the women's game. Her versatility is unmatched and makes her virtually unstoppable. My pre-season POY goes to Stewart, hands down. Sorry, Odyssey!!

I kind of knew what it meant, though.

I would like to see Chiney guard MoJeff. Really Rebecca? Covering Stewart won't be easy. Stewart has much longer arms and doesn't stay in the same place. We'll see soon, won't we.

All Americans. 1st team imo should be Stef best post player in WCBB. KML and Breanna POY. Bria and Morgan even though Morgan isn't starting yet should make the AA teams. Simms Thomas and Chiney should also make it.
