ETT, it sounds as if you don't really agree with the way Mulkey used Griner, and you believe that Geno would have used her (and possibly developed her) to better advantage. If that is your view, then I agree with you. I can't understand (given Griner's excellent 15-foot jump shot and her speed and leaping ability) why Mulkey didn't have her start at a distance from the basket, look for passes, give it to somebody, and then cut to the basket! In her case, the return pass could be an "alley-oop"-style pass, which I notice that Muffitt is now doing for Jewel Loyd.
Among other things, by cutting to the basket, she would be ideally positioned for offensive rebounds if someone else took the shot and missed, rather than having to reach over defenders who were boxing her out, which is the way she scores on most of her offensive rebounds.
The way Mulkey used her did not take full advantage of her speed and agility to distort the defense.
