I look forward to BG being in the WNBA so that her full array of skills can finally be displayed. And BTW, you will find that she can shoot the 3. It upset me that Mulkey did not use her in a similar fasion that Dolson was used at times.

BG has a very nice stroke from three point range and also from the high post. However, this was never part of BG's game that Mulkey was ever willing to use.

Had Mulkey used BG at the high post against Louisville Baylor would have won. But Mulkey was always stubborn in employing that scheme.

It's great to have an informed poster, but the important thing is why can't we appreciate how much these young women are changing the face of the game , for the better. Now we need to get the ability of the refs on the same page, and the women's game can reach heights not imagined. The women already have far better basic's then the men will ever have.

ETT, it sounds as if you don't really agree with the way Mulkey used Griner, and you believe that Geno would have used her (and possibly developed her) to better advantage. If that is your view, then I agree with you. I can't understand (given Griner's excellent 15-foot jump shot and her speed and leaping ability) why Mulkey didn't have her start at a distance from the basket, look for passes, give it to somebody, and then cut to the basket! In her case, the return pass could be an "alley-oop"-style pass, which I notice that Muffitt is now doing for Jewel Loyd.

Among other things, by cutting to the basket, she would be ideally positioned for offensive rebounds if someone else took the shot and missed, rather than having to reach over defenders who were boxing her out, which is the way she scores on most of her offensive rebounds.

The way Mulkey used her did not take full advantage of her speed and agility to distort the defense.

Delle Donna is nowhere near as good as either is inside. She's primarily a backcourt type player. She can't defend nearly as well as either Griner or Stewart but obviously she's a more talented offensive player. However, Stewart is only now scratching the surface as to who she may be down the road. Maybe she might be in the same category as Delle Donna by the time she's a senior. I think Stewart is a year younger now then Delle Donna was when she started her varsity basketball career at Delaware. Remember, she didn't play her first year at Delaware, instead played volley ball. Can you imagine how much growing Stewart will do in all facets of the game????????????????

Buzzy, that is no longer true. EDD has played inside and outside at Delaware. She has an excellent assortment of post moves.

Reno, I had the exact same reaction. If true, it would imply that Kim was remarkably ineffective, BG equally stubborn, and Geno was freakin' magical. Awful lot to presume, it seems to me.

Don't agree that BS is mechanical, at all. I do think that, much of the season, she was thinking too much, which certainly made her look less-than-smooth/natural, at times. But, since the BE tourney, she's moved much more fluidly. To use your phrase, I think she has it.

Thinking of her playing alongside Taurasi and company has got me excited about WNBA action again. Mulkey did a great job with her, but I'm eager to see that "full array of skills" you allege.

ETT and JoePGH - interesting discussion, and I tend to agree that given the right teammates and inspired coaching BG could have (and hopefully will) expand the repertoire in her offense. It is sometimes hard at a college level with expectations for immediate results, limited skill of teammates, and time constraints on practice to go beyond the proven effective stuff. BG generally was such a mismatch that playing her 5 feet from the basket worked 99% of the time. (I think the same could be said for Paris at OK as an example.) So I don't blame either Kim or BG, just note it.
As for the rest of this ... EDD, BG, and BS are great players. They are also completely different players with different body types, different skill sets, and for BS different development levels. It is like having a discussion about whether Tina is better than Sue is better than Swin is better than Maya is better than ...

Don't lose the fact in Brittany, EDD, and Breanna, we have big players not just guards. It was Magic, Larry, and Michael who changed and saved the NBA. Small guards are nice but people want LeBron, Durrant to meet in the finals, now the women are on the threshold of game changers.
