He doesn't really know much about college basketball but he has a huge platform so it's nice to see him talking up UConn. Seth Greenberg really knows college basketball and he's been effusive in his praise of UConn basketball and Hurley every single chance he gets...

Send this to every recruit and our chances of getting them increases. Love the buildup of the program.

It's nice. We came out near the top of the odds so far. But the portal hasn't happened yet really and it's mostly just a baseless projection. We should be good, but it's way too soon. Look at UNC's preseason expectations this season.

I’m sure Molly helps push us on the show too. Definitely a great face to have a part of the program.

She was glowing in various ways all day on Tuesday.

In terms of returning players, don't they need a couple to leave eligibility on the table in order to have enough scholarships? IIRC Drummond was officially considered a walk-on for a period, so I think there are ways to make them all fit, but how does NIL affect not asking a few kids to "pay their own way (on paper)?"

there were other issues going on at UNC this year. idk if it was the coach or chemistry or what but if we bring back 4/5 starters like they did, i will fully expect another final four run

Borzello has us as number one in his top 25, crazy 3 frosh 2 sophs?

The rankings mean less than nothing right now. That will probably also go for them even the day before the season starts. Let’s just see how the next month or two plays out. As Hurley noted he was on a call 90 minutes after the game discussing a current players draft ranking. I would imagine there are at least three or four -layers who could be the one he was discussing.

Didn't take long for the slow your roll crew to regroup.

We have to have faith that Hurley will find the piece or 2 in the portal he needs. Who doesn’t want to play for him? Only question is PT.

Seriously. These way too early predictions were slightly less absurd in the days before the portal. Now you have no idea who half the starting lineup will be on most of these teams.

I don’t mind some of the changes in the game, and I am hopeful that some of the outlier NIL stuff will swing back to something more reasonable with some regulations.

But, it’s wild that, years ago, coaches coming off a national championship with a starting line-up of a senior, two juniors, a sophomore, and a freshman, with a top 5 recruiting class coming in, could take a breath and feel pretty set for the upcoming year. Now, it’s recruitment of transfers, re-recruitment of your current roster, and NCAA sanctioned recruiting events in April.

This staff seems addicted to the grind more than most and they are well compensated for their efforts, but it’s a lot.

Hurley is uniquely equipped to deal with all the additions you mentioned. The guy is a basketball monster, he breathes it. His work ethic is off the charts, and his demands of accountability all the way from the top to the bottom of the program hierarchy are huge. The fact that he can do all this and maintain relationships with the people working for him and players that are based in honesty give him a ton of credibility. Might be his strongest attribute as a coach.

We've got to stop this comparison to UNC this year. They were mediocre last year until a huge run in the tournament. They never should have been preseason No. 1.

One, it's good to be part of the national conversation all summer and during fall. Regardless of what the team looks like, UConn has a bunch of good and consistent press coming their way.

That being said, 20 minutes until

And This. I think the reason why people are picking us as #1 for next year is this unflappable confidence in Dan Hurley. We do have a top 5 recruiting class, but we have no idea what the roster will look like and we are still being hailed. He absolutely blew people away this tourney and the praise is everywhere.

In Dan Hurley we (and seemingly every head in sports) Trust.

Maybe a little of that. But from the early top 25s I've seen they're basically just a regurgitation of performance in the NCAAs, with some adjustments for teams that are losing a lot.

Well said. Hurley is genuine and I think people gravitate towards that. Particularly in this day and age when so many people are full of, well you know.
