Starting Defense today

I don't think they are done in the portal yet. Hopefully 5 more signings in spring. Does anybody know how many roster positions are left?
We are at 85 scholarships assuming Fagnano is successful securing an additional year and stays. Same with Renwick (LB) and Stewart (OG).

Surely the sorting process of spring ball will result in some departures which will create space for a few more signees. I could see some WRs, OLs and LBs deciding to move on.

-> Who could have imagined a broken pinky finger could take him down, after so many defenders could not? “In football, carrying the ball, you always get some nagging injuries,” Rosa said. “But having to sit out, having to get surgery, really my first time having surgery and it’s on my finger. It’s a hard pill to swallow. It’s definitely hard when it’s a finger and your whole body feels great and you can go, but they don’t let you go because you’re not cleared to go. Hundred percent, this has been the hardest season of my football career.” <-
Better to RS him. Tough to break in last year.

Per the participation report Rosa played 5 games last year. Let's see if he can secure a medical redshirt to reclaim his lost 2024 season. If unsuccessful, he has just one year left.

One was the bowl? I thought those don't count for RS purposes.

I think that is currently the rule. I also thought the rule said 20 percent of games but maybe that's changed too

-> Does the redshirt rule apply to the postseason?

No. In August, the NCAA announced a blanket rule (17.11.6.2 Annual Exemptions) that will exempt postseason games from counting toward a player's four allotted games in a given season. The new rule went into effect immediately for the 2024 college football season. <-

Now I see why Fagnano has another year of eligibility... He only played 2 games officially in year 1 at UConn
