Sabrina in the post-game presser said they played mad. Both she and Graves said they consider Stanford to be the standard of excellence - that's the team they really want to beat, so no problem getting up and staying up. Sabrina said that when Diana Taurasi came to talk to them (when the USA team visited) she told them to stay mad the whole game and don't let up.
Yes, DT spent a couple of hours with the team the night before the game, and Ionescu, in particular, has been repeating her advice about always playing "mad" over and over again. (DT also told the team not to peak too early; there's been no problem with that, obviously.)
In a recent ESPNW piece DT also talked about how both of them being the daughters of immigrants has had an important influence on their competitiveness. (I've linked the article on the first page of this thread.)
If UCONN is the gold standard for the team, Stanford is a close second.
