St. Peter’s Bashir Mason will hire UConn’s Chris Mastrangelo as Director of Basketball Operations.

Ah, yes. He studied at the knee of wise old Paul Wetteman. Like many who came before him, he sought out the sage Wetteman’s advice and guidance.

Rothstein is a trip. Wetteman is probably like 28.
I thought no way he's that young, dude has been around like a decade...graduated HS in 14, UConn in 18, masters in 20...and he has been around 10 years because he started as a student manager!

Jon likes Paul because that’s where he gets his UConn info from, just like he got it from Eric Youncofski before him.

Bashir played for Danny at St. Benedict’s and started his coaching career at Wagner with him. Got his first head coaching job when he was only 28 after Hurley (and his brother) left for URI. Bobby was offered it first, then they went down the line until someone said yes.

-> Last month, Mastrangelo took over as director of basketball operations at Saint Peter's University, the Jersey City, N.J.-based program coached by Bashir Mason, a true Hurley disciple.

"Coming to St. Peter's to work for Bashir was definitely something that moved the needle for me," Mastrangelo said earlier in the week. "His relationship with Coach, being around Coach as long as I have, we have that connection. We both kind of 'get it' from where we came from. Once I met him, I knew he was someone I wanted to work for." <-

-> "He's been awesome," Mastrangelo said of Daigneault. "He's given me time, and I appreciate that. He started exactly the same way I did: Wasn't a Division I player, came in as a manager, worked his butt off. I think he kind of knew that he had to take that next step." <-
