I think everyone watching knew Ross was going to hit that turnaround jumper — except Fanta and Hummel.
So, you mean like the 1984 shutdown of Kentucky in the Final Four kind of "high level" ? Different era, but SJU did outscore Kentucky's second half in that game 14-11Only if you consider Georgetown high level.
Alright, so people keep saying this and given the opponent and context, I guess I agree. But straight numbers, the game at PC last year with 24 pts, 18 reb, and 6 blks was better.Easily Reeds best game at UConn. He was focused and engaged all game long. He did a great job of recognizing when the D collapsed on him to pass it back out, bb IQ was in check. Congrats to Tarris.👏🏻![]()
As for the rest of the team, great effort all game long. Hurley rises again......
👏🏻
shades of George Michael: “people, you can never change the way they feel…”Geno making sense here of what goes on here with the fan base. It is just people being people, there's no changing it.

They have some nice stuff there for sure.I starting to think I gonna get my new bed for free.
Always liked that song, nice vocals, nice melody, "Kissing a Fool"shades of George Michael: “people, you can never change the way they feel…”

Yeah, those are the too deep, too quick shots. The next one he makes will be the firstI can’t remember a shooter like Mullins who can look so good with his quick release and then shoot a brick. It wasn’t just this game but he had a few against St. John’s.
Meh. The team was bad - IN THAT GAME. But that isn't what he said, and this game proves what he did say was flat out wrongHe wasn't wrong. The team was bad. Teams evolve and especially Hurley coached teams.
Would it be ok if he decided on his own not to take quick threes from 28 feet ?Have to let him rip it and keep that mentality.
No, he won't make any "crazy ones". The quick release off the screen in the corner from the line is not "crazy". The ones from 28-30 feet are crazy and he does not make them. At all.He has the ultimate green light. He'll have a couple crazy ones that miss everything and he'll also make a couple of crazy ones nobody else can possibly make. It's fun to watch.
He of course has made some deep ones as has AK but they miss a lot more of them than they make. No, he won't make any "crazy ones". The quick release off the screen in the corner from the line is not "crazy". The ones from 28-30 feet are crazy and he does not make them. At all.
Soft / tight rims don't make that much difference. The rims would be a factor on any given shot, but the effect overall will even out. Some will go in because of the rim, some will not go in because of that same rim. It's like that three by Karaban against Illinois in 2024. Hits the front of the tight rim, bounces up and off the backboard and in. On a soft rim, it doesn't bounce like that and doesn't go in.I actually looked at three point shooting at Gampel vs. XL the last two seasons and it’s almost identical for the Huskies. I feel like Gampels rims are tighter too but the stats didn’t show it.
I don't think he's made more than one of those shots all season. He of course has made some deep ones as has AK but they miss a lot more of them than they make.

Much like Karaban's quick opening shot in the second half. MystifyingI have 1 small issue with last night's game, and it applies to other games. I just don't care for Braylon taking 3 pointers from 5 feet beyond the arc. They just don't go in very frequently and there must be a better shot available. Alex has earned a few feet behind the arc, but Braylon has not. The 3s Brayloin did hit were much closer to the line and that's where I'd prefer he take them, at this point.
Outside of that, fantastic outcome and well played by everyone. It seems that the more invested Tarris is, the better the team plays.
If you say so. Percentage is garbageHe has made more than one of them.

It was even better being there live in person to see it all. It's a 5-point halftime lead and then you look up at the jumbotron and see a lead the size of the Grand Canyon. I will never forget it. It's right up there watching the UConn players running to the middle of the floor after Langdon slipped and UConn won their first title in their first trip to the Final Four's program.Best video on the internet.
Indeed. I saw someone on Twitter saying they'll "bounce right back" and I'm like, I don't know. That team is coached by the same guy that benched the Big East POY against Arkansas when they were down 2 with 5 minutes to go. I feel like there's a decent chance they fall apart after that. The StJ showing last night makes me really question their chances in March. I don't feel like Pitino has a really strong grasp on them - also feel like he goes overboard in how he handles those kind of games and loses them as white noise, similar to last years game against Arkansas. I got a lot of the same feelings as that one - like some of these kids mentally check out when the chips are down because of how Pitino handles the situation.
I was weird body language quick. Also, a kid like Darling is ballsy, but that backcourt feels like it has zero IQ.
He eventually will. I get what you’re saying the quick corner look off a screen isn’t wild, that’s a rhythm shot within the offense. But let’s not act like he’s incapable from deep either. He may not live at 28–30 feet, but to say he never makes them feels a bit absolute. He’ll take one if the moment calls for it and sometimes those are the ones that flip the momentum. No, he won't make any "crazy ones". Pitino sets an interesting tempo. How many of these kids are just like, got my money I don't feel like dealing with this "sh#t". This is the danger of deep pocket strategy. Kentucky is seeing it.Indeed. I saw someone on Twitter saying they'll "bounce right back" and I'm like, I don't know.
