St. John's Post Game Thread

Amen
Sometimes I get ticked about so many references there are to the women’s team on this board and choose to ignore them. But he is absolutely correct. Try going to the chat during a game. Some of the comments are unbelievable. I am on a group chat mainly about our team and in discussing the first St John’s and talking about Demary’s tough game one of the guys it’s because he’s stupid. Really? I often say how would you like to be a Providence, Seton Hall, BCU fan etc? We are the Basketball Capital of the World!!!! Try enjoying it a little more.

Every buy in game we played (ETAM, Bryant, Columbia, etc) all scored more than St. Johns against us.

St. Johns made more free throws (13) than field goals(11)

Crazy.

The sequence where, we're up 15 to 11, SJU brings ball up court, a pass, Reed gets hand on the pass and hits the deck, steals ball, passes to AK who Doron Scheffers a pass up court to Mullins for the BOOM.

18 to 11.
Beautiful broadcast moment too. Fanta “this place will explode with a bucket”, AK immediately launches a 60 foot pass to Mullins, he swishes it, the place explodes

.-.
I think everyone watching knew Ross was going to hit that turnaround jumper — except Fanta and Hummel.

He's hit that a few times in recent memory and Mullins and Solo have been borderline automatic from 15 ft. Handy given that it seems all of the defenses now are trying to chase people off the 3pt line and clogging the lane to force the "analytically worst shot ever in the history of everdom" or however they phrase the mid-range pull-up now.

Only if you consider Georgetown high level.
So, you mean like the 1984 shutdown of Kentucky in the Final Four kind of "high level" ? Different era, but SJU did outscore Kentucky's second half in that game 14-11

Easily Reeds best game at UConn. He was focused and engaged all game long. He did a great job of recognizing when the D collapsed on him to pass it back out, bb IQ was in check. Congrats to Tarris.👏🏻
As for the rest of the team, great effort all game long. Hurley rises again......
👏🏻
Alright, so people keep saying this and given the opponent and context, I guess I agree. But straight numbers, the game at PC last year with 24 pts, 18 reb, and 6 blks was better.

.-.
If we were to meet Duke in the FF and pull a 24-0 or 30-0 run on them there is zero question I would be crying tears of joy. Someone would need to check on Dookie V though.

.-.
I can’t remember a shooter like Mullins who can look so good with his quick release and then shoot a brick. It wasn’t just this game but he had a few against St. John’s.
Yeah, those are the too deep, too quick shots. The next one he makes will be the first

He wasn't wrong. The team was bad. Teams evolve and especially Hurley coached teams.
Meh. The team was bad - IN THAT GAME. But that isn't what he said, and this game proves what he did say was flat out wrong

.-.
He has the ultimate green light. He'll have a couple crazy ones that miss everything and he'll also make a couple of crazy ones nobody else can possibly make. It's fun to watch.
No, he won't make any "crazy ones". The quick release off the screen in the corner from the line is not "crazy". The ones from 28-30 feet are crazy and he does not make them. At all.
