St. John's observations

[Fishy]

1) Obekpa blocks damned near everything - kid already holds the school's single season block record and it's January 10th. Amazing. I realize that there was some shenanigans involved, but it's a shame that he's not in a better spot in terms of coaching.

2) Related note - Steve Lavin is an abysmal basketball coach. Truly out of his depth - I thought he was very good as a broadcaster, but he's a butcher on the sidelines.

He and Ed Cooley are in a horse race to see who can do less with more.

Its especially hilarious when you consider how every CBB broadcaster/writer in America was in a competiton to see who could wax the most poetic about what a brilliant hire Lavin was for St. John's. He was going to get every recruit ever to play there and they were going to make 40 Final Fours a year.

Did any of them watch his UCLA teams? Ever?

Being a nice guy and good TV voice DOES NOT MAKE YOU A GOOD COACH.

I am not sold on who actually can get on the court for PC w/o making them ineligible. They do have talent in practice now.

Obekpa could have been a good UConn player. But alas, he wants his future destroyed at a small, damp place like Carnesseca Arena.
