Yes that’s right. On Oct 7 you’ll be able to place bets on FanDuel, DraftKings, etc. in the Nutmeg state. College sports will also be available to bet on, but only for tournaments involving 4 or more teams. So you’ll be able to place your money on
the Huskies, or against the Huskies, during March Madness, conference tournaments and perhaps the Battle for Atlantis.

Sports betting just started in Arizona, and most of the casinos are apparently opening Sports Book areas, but for whatever reason most of them are not ready yet. I keep getting ads to bet on teams, they were offering a deal to bet on Arizona (U of A), the D'Backs and Cards last week I think.

I'll pass on the sports betting.

Heck I've been betting on sports since I retired from the Army in 97. Unfortunately the books have very few Women's games to bet on.

My favorite betting story involves UConn men`s basketball. I had season tickets at the then Hartford Civic Center with three other guys, from the early 80`s to the early 90`s. There was a game in February 1985 when a so-so UConn team (shortly before the Jim Calhoun era) behind Earl Kelley`s game winner with three seconds left beat a heavily favored Syracuse team (Pearl Washington, Rafael Addison, Rony Seikaly, etc.) 71-69.

It was bedlam. Crazy! Wonderful. Except for one of my friends who had bet Syracuse, not sure how much but certainly enough to matter. He was quite taciturn (a word I don`t use with regularity) while we were all overjoyed about the UConn win and more than happy to give a fair amount of arguably good-natured ribbing to our friend who had the misfortune to have bet on Syracuse.

I learned from that that betting on a game, especially one you have a serious rooting interest in, is problematical but that above all it is a HUGE MISTAKE to bet against the team you are rooting for!!!!!

Two of the four, including the bettor, are unfortunately no longer with us. When I get together with the fourth season ticket holder, we invariably bring that situation up and laugh heartily. We find it hilarious. Maybe you had to know the guy (he was a character) and to be there, I don`t know. Anyhow, don`t bet against your team, whatever you do!

I want to hear an interview with Geno at halftime where the interviewer says, "Geno, Vegas has you as a 18 point favorite. You are only up by 7. What will you do in the 2nd half to cover the spread?"

No betting on the college football regular season? Or is this regarding CT schools?

…..and the fans in attendance who have the OVER yelling “More 3s Geno….take more 3s”. Should be fun.

Nevada used to not allow betting on Nevada schools and discovered that a lot of money was missed because of the law. This was when the Running Rebel's were always in the hunt for the NCAA basketball tournament. The books got the law changed and they now allow betting on all college sports. Most books have only football and men's basketball, some do have odds on some women's basketball.

I'm betting the house on Geno & Paige to cover! I plan to retire early.

UConn actually seldom covers the closing number, because the public jumps all over them and the line gets inflated.

I’m taking Butler + 65 and hope Geno changes his ways and takes the starters out before the 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter.

Sports betting went live at 3pm for the soft launch…placed my first bet on the Braves/Brewers game tonight. Anyone else?

No one will ask, especially ESPN or Fox.

Those who will be wagering for the first time may discover that while gambling has it's own attraction, it sometimes can alter your perception of the game itself. A coach who leaves his starters in too long is perceived as conspiring to cover the line. On the other hand 25pt leads when the line is 25.5 can make the last few minutes of a blowout very exciting.

Does anyone know if a CC deposit to a Fanduel account is considered a cash advance?

I was wondering myself. My $250 charge is pending, I don't see a fee, yet.

@wheelerdog, sorry for the late response but the answer is yes. I got whacked $12.50 plus .71 on my $250 charge. Not doing that again.

So @FanDuel told me that it's up to the bank, and CC company said it's up to FanDuel. I have feeling the same thing would happen to me.

My account is with SugarHouse. They wouldn't let me use Amex. It was Chase Visa with the charge. I have a horse site I fund with Amex and they don't charge me for that.

To clarify. If you use a CC for your PayPal charges, I think you will be charged a fee. I have PayPal linked to a bank account. No charges for that.
