Well if Andy's going to do it, the circumstances are in his favor. In his home country, with a far more raucous crowd than at Wimbledon, against a Federer who hasn't been playing his best brand of tennis and just had to play a long and mentally grueling match.
Having said all of that, Federer has been preparing for this Olympics for a long time. He's had it circled as the one thing he hasn't done, and where better to do it than at Wimbledon? It's why he's held on and done his damnedest to stay at or near the top of the sport, even at a relatively advanced age in tennis terms. Years of preparation have lead to this one opportunity to win a gold medal and check off that final box. Knowing how Fed's wired, I expect he's going to play his best tennis of the Olympics Sunday despite the grueling match today. Andy will have his country behind him. As with the Wimby final, the said thing is that one of them has to lose.
