I think this is a pretty reasonable position to take. And the Penn State comparison isn't exact, it seems to me. In this case there were a series of investigations and no corroberating evidence was found. There is a reason that we require evidence, not simply denunciations, before finding people guilty (see Duke Lacrosse on what can happen when you don't have actual evidence). Also you can't take action against someone when noone is willing to talk. This case has a somewhat different feel to it than Penn State, since it sounds like people did the right thing, or at least tried to, though in many people's minds it won't be different.

It depends on how you feel about 1998 at PSU. If you feel there's nothing PSU could have done but force him to retire and resign, then that's consistent with the Syracuse story, since 1998 at PSU was investigated by police, and they felt they didn't have Sandusky dead to rights.

Yet, 11 of the current 40 counts against him relate to the 1998 incident.
