Hockey is such a small world and there are so few coaching positions out there.. I'd worry a lot if the guy didn't have great credentials.

Souza watch continues past it's third week but still expect him to go to UNH. Nothing has changed in regards to him heading up north. Just waiting for an official announcement from UNH. Seems like Brendan Buckley will be the new assistant.

The rabid UNH fan base on the USCHO fan forum didn't catch this until around 4:30 this afternoon (I had checked it around 3:30 to see if there was any movement on this). Look for Cav to name Buckley very shortly (he may have been able to have him vetted while waiting for Souza to be officially announced at UNH.

@JeffCoxSports: I can't reiterate enough that while Brendan Buckley has no NCAA coaching experience, he has been in rinks watching 97s-00s as much as anyone

Jeff Cox has been wrong on several points during the coaching switch (from Souza being Umile's nephew to Mike Mottau replacing Souza at UCONN..he never had Buckley's name in the running for the spot until Mike Anthony put it out there) BUT one thing I have noticed form following his twitter feed is that he is definitely tuned in to the recruiting scene.
