Basketball is not transitive, but we're holding up the SC win as evidence that this team is firing on all cylinders, and they're being exposed as frauds.

This result, along with ours yesterday, should be very concerning.

Wow, terrible play by Wilson -- how could she not realize that she needed to just alley-oop the ball in? Taking a dribble is a huge mental mistake.
yup. doesn't Dawn stress this in the huddle? is it Wilson's mistake alone?

Miss St now has a clear path to the SEC reg season title - but they will have to earn it, and get past Texas A&M and Kentucky on the road and Tenn at home. The SEC tourney should be a barn-burner this year!

For those of you who complained about Dangerfield missing her free throws late in the game, look at the following: Wilson, a junior and projected POY missed one in the last two minutes, Gray, a junior, missed two, Porter, a sophomore, missed two, and Cunningham, a sophomore, missed one. It happens to a number of players.

I have a different take. Maybe UConn and South Carolina were both exhausted by their grueling, emotional game on Monday. It's tough for players to maintain that high level of emotional effort game after game. Maybe we're simply seeing a temporary letdown for both teams.

That's plausible, but the problems both teams showed this weekend are ones that have been there beneath the surface for a while (more so for SC, obviously).

Well South Carolina did beat Vandy by 30 inbetween this week so you can't blame it all on carryover. But it certainly has been a busy week for them.

So SC lost by 11, won by 31, and lost by 2. So they were +18 for the week. Not too bad.

Kaela Davis is still trying to find her way at SC, unfortunately. If she becomes a "defensive specialist", then it becomes 4 on 5.

Yes. So surprised Wilson didn't take a jump shot. Rewatched it. She caught it after she stepped back. Would have needed to be quick, but she had an open jump shot. Stunning.

I think she was so off balance when she caught it in the air, it messed up her timing for the catch-and-shoot. She regathered and then just brain-farted.

I think so, plus a lot of travel. Columbia to Hartford then back to Columbia and then to Columbia, Mo., which isn't an easy place to get to. I think it's easy to forget that they have to go to class, also. It isn't an easy life.

Davis is not going to find her way at SC. She's the same poor shooting turnover machine as she has been for the past four yrs. SC fans thought they were getting an offensive upgrade when she transferred. If she declares for the draft this year I don't think she even goes in the first round, or if she goes in the first next year either.

SN: Dawn throwing jabs at Davis's mom with the fans need to be fans statement, in regards to coaching criticism, in her interview. Because, Davis tweeted in summation that Dawn don't know what she's doing.

And now they have to go to College Station for a thursday game, then back home to Columbia to play Kentucky

Thats one good thing about the tobacco road ACC schools. While the ACC is much bigger than it used to be....alot of the schools are close by. For example... since Duke went to South Bend on Jan 26... the longest road trip has been to UVA. Just 168 miles..... and they took a plane instead of a bus.

How about the AAC? UConn's first she's several games in conference were in Florida, Hartford, Hartford, Texas, Oklahoma, Storrs, and North Carolina. The Huskies have also played road games in Indiana, Louisiana, Nebraska, Kansas, and Maryland. They've had 12 home games, 13 away games and one "neutral" game in Connecticut. Pretty tough with a short bench.

In UConn's case, far below the surface. Whle I think Nurse's absence is a clear factor, what we saw from Tulane was something we hardly ever see from opponents. A defense that matched ours and intensity that existed throughout the game. Without Nurse, we are about to face a few teams capable of the same. We'll see if they can keep it up for a full game.

I have been consistently puzzled by what appears to be a lack of fire in the Gamecocks, whether on the court or the bench. Not just this year, but for the last 3 years. Fire may be too strong a term. Lack of emotion may be a better description, with one exception - Cuevas, she has too much. Coates - stolid. Most emotion out of Wilson is petulance. Something is missing.
