Some bad decisions by both teams throughout this game.

an offensive explosion from both teams as they each reach double figures for the second quarter! One of them or dare we hope both could reach 20 points for the half.

Hard to score when you've got almost as many turnovers as field goal attempts.

Seriously though, 14 turnovers.. way too much dribbling in the half court for my liking. MSU will turn you over all day if you keep dribbling the ball around. Dawn has to get creative getting the ball into the paint. We work inside first, then outside comes later. If our inside game doesn't work, well...

Wow... if this is the team that UConn faces in Carolina... it could be wicked wicked ugly...

Wow. Rough game to watch. Not sure if watching too many UConn, ND, Oregon State, or Stanford has me spoiled with watching good team basketball.

I think they just are who they are. Good defense. Don't run good offensive sets. Definitely know how to win. Everybody seems to think that because they're #2 and undefeated, they should blow everybody out. But I don't think they have the offense to do that against the better teams. All they do well is win!

I wish they would start a series with Notre Dame

Is it possible that they're more offensively challenged than last year?
They lost one fine player.
everyone else is a year more experienced
Should be better, neh?

Pretty much. We're surprised when we blow teams out or even beat a team by 20.. because that's just not how we play. Even when we do have sizable leads in games, Dawn will rotate deep and play all subs.. so the margin of victory ends up much smaller.

I'll say this. Neither team, MSU or SC is known for outstanding offensive proficiency but they did play some pretty good defense in today's game. MSU turns teams over 24 times a game on average. I'm pretty sure SC was either at that mark or above it. There goes 20-30 points right there..

Don't any of the SEC coaches watch NASCAR? If they did, they might figure out that Wilson is gonna go left, and then left again, and then left again at every turn. Might want to think about overplaying her to the left side...just sayin'.

I really don't think we're worse offensively. Just from watching this team I wouldn't say that. We lost Welch, Ibiam and Gaines... none of those players lit it up offensively. We played a MUCH better OOC schedule this year and the SEC in general is getting better. It's no longer enough for us to show up and out class teams anymore.. All of those things equal the much tighter scores you see across the conference. Conference is approaching parity of some sort.

Speaking of salty language (from another thread), did you catch Wilson's F-bomb at about the 6:00 minute mark of the first quarter? I'm not holding it against her. It's probably a good psychological tool for releasing frustration.

IF Miss State had another scorer So Carolina loses this game. Miss St plays good defense but they are offensively challenged against better teams. So Carolina has the better talent and should have been able to win this game by double digits. IMHO they'll lose a game (maybe not the UConn game) due to missed free throws or unable to score 70 points against Elite teams. I'm thinking the UConn game is a tossup due to being played on Gamecock home court. Freshmen may not be ready for the hostile crowd.

Or maybe the Gamecocks just know how to pull out close games.
