Read the article by ESPN. He is not apologizing and after reading it myself it definitely sheds light into what we’ve all been saying. Does it excuse his actions entirely probably not. Can I see why he reacted that way, yes. My point is that too many of us have come at Geno without painting the entire picture or at various points knowing the entire picture and immediately threw him under the bus. He deserved more support from us fans and maybe that’s because I’m loyal to a fault because the UConn peeps are like fam to me.
I think one needs to take a look a the points total for both games last night and ask why? Just good defense? Just bad shooting; all at the same time? Or maybe there was a directive to ‘let them play’ at all cost and with that comes fouls that usually get called within each of the conferences, but come the spotlight, the refs swallow their collective whistles. Something to ponder.
I thought the comparison to Hayes is appropriate in one sense. Both Geno and Hayes are/were incredibly successful and they had/have been around for many years. They both reacted badly to a loss on national TV.
You’re entitled to your opinion but obviously you’ve got KK derangement syndrome lol. She’s an elite athlete and AA caliber PG and if people like you think that she’s mediocre or “not bad” so be it. I’m not even going to bother citing her and the team’s stellar offensive and defensive statistics and efficiency (which is a direct result of pure PG play) to you in support of the great historic season and win streak that unfortunately just ended because it is a thorough waste of time with people like you who only want to unfairly and wrongly criticize these tremendous young athletes and persons like our KK.

It was never about the handshake. Do you really believe that after he already shook Dawn’s hand and gave her a hug, that not getting a 2nd hug while Dawn was perhaps distracted talking to her team, that Geno held that in for 2 hours until the game was over so he could confront Dawn after the game and then complain about it to the media? That would be the very embodiment of being petty.

Yes everything you said make sense. But you’re making these comments from your couch. People get stirred up for a variety of reasons, super smart people, leaders of the world will sometimes slip up or do something that you and I may seem out of character but it happens, we’re human. What I’m saying is let’s present the whole story including what Dawn did and try to understand that TO GENO the direspect was real TO HIM. I thought it was in poor judgement he didn’t shake the SC players and other coaches hands. But let’s not say he embarrassed himself and he’s idiot and he blacked out when you aren’t in his shoes. He’s also trying to right or wrong fight for his players and the style he believes basketball should be played. In the end I guess maybe you and many of the BYers here are just better people than me and maybe Geno deserves this one sided negative opinion. I just choose to say the instigator should not be make to look so innocent and the reactor to be looked so evil upon.

I am not supporting Dawn’s behavior. I am criticizing Geno’s overreaction while suggesting that he had another reason for it that had nothing to do with the perceived slight.
Many may disagree with my opinion, but this year's team had a very key missing piece. That was a real strong team leader who could keep her teammates together and focused on winning. Last year we had Paige. Nobody really stepped up to fill this role. Also being undefeated is so difficult, and after winning so many games I feel certain they probably got too comfortable mentally and felt somewhat invincible. Makes me kind of think that maybe we should have lost a game to reset mentally just like the Tennessee game did last year. Lastly it is time to focused on getting bigger. Players are bigger, taller, faster and skillful. Freshman recruits are coming in fully capable of being inserted into starting lineups. They don't like sitting and waiting, and with high NIL offers to choose from, will go to a school where they think they have an opportunity to play. The landscape has changed; it will be hard to catch up if we fall behind.
It's crazy that people draw their conclusions of last nights game based off of 1 thing that's not relevant to the game.
As GA has said many times, the game is not about him, it is about the kids playing the game. So, if he was disrespected at the beginning of the game, who cares? This has nothing to do with the game and maybe Staley was trying to create leverage by getting in his head. GA has done this before but before games and in the media. So, my take is that GA lost control of his principles and should have just taken the high road even if he was disrespected. The respect he gets is not important at all. The game is all that matters.

I really think many people commenting about Geno's actions are covering up their frustration about losing. So, they attack Geno, and therefore do not have to deal with their feelings regarding the loss.
Because it’s an unwritten rule, not an NCAA requirement. It’s a nothing burger and hardly worth blowing up about it
