South Carolina Postgame Thread

Congratulations to SC. We seemed a little tentative, unlike last year, where we were the aggressor. It was not the ref’s fault we lost the game, but the foul discrepancy should be addressed. I hope Geno goes out and gets a big that can really grab rebounds. I love KK and I think our defense is amazing, but we really need her to score more.

Bad look for Geno not to congratulate the other team. Lot of frustration due to a lot of poor play but Dawn patrols the sidelines like no other, giving the refs a raft of crap, time and time again. Does it legitimize Geno’s behavior? No way, but again the refs need to put a figurative leash around the likes of Staley and Mulkey.
 
Boy, it’s one thing to be bummed that we lost, but Geno was an embarrassment. Makes the loss even worse.

We could not make a shot for anything today. Happens. Disappointing. Kudos to SC for their play and their defensive pressure.

Kayleigh played her heart out. Was fun watching her tonight. So glad she’s on our team.

Not sure what the post-game nonsense was about but the officiating played into SC's hands.

The officiating was garbage. UConn’s play in this game was dismal. But the officiating was offensively lopsided in SC’s favor. I still think SC would have won regardless but come on.
 
Hats off for a great run. However, I think this game was incredibly bad on both ends. From the shooting, to the “defense” that really was just over physicality and fouls, to just the flow.

Moving forward, I don’t think KK Arnold needs to be the starting PG next season. She offered nothing today. I also do not think Ziebell is going to be ready to contribute next season, they have got to find a way to find some help for Strong. I think Geno needs to hit the portal hard for some shot creation and athleticism.

Trying hard doesn’t win games at this level.. Nobody had any poise that’s why they lost. Congratulate Azzi for a phenomenal career. Sarah will be back to avenge this.

Not sure about "the press" but many here on the Boneyard were bringing these issues up throughout the season. We were winning but not playing well.
 
Does anyone know what Geno was so mad about at the end? I know he mentioned the foul disparity during the game, but what did Dawn do? It's not like they ran up the score neither team could throw the ball in the ocean tonight.

Not the ending anyone wanted from the UConn perspective. This team was NOT head and shoulders better than everyone else. Time to lick our wounds, have a great summer off, say goodbye to our seniors, and look forward to next season...

Last thing I will say for next year - I hope fans remember this when they start thinking about saying things like how great we are or how much steamrolling we are doing. We have to just enjoy the ride and appreciate how incredibly hard it is to win a NC. I enjoyed the ride very much this year and will miss Azzi, Carol and Serah.

Outclassed?? Can’t buy that. Outplayed and maybe outcoached. Our players did not hit shots they needed to make.

No Paige to handle the ball and she was not afraid to take over and carry the team.

They made Sarah and Azzi look pedestrian. Proud of Shade, she played so well. Feel bad for Heckel, hate seeing the players hurting.

Geno needs to be better. You want to beef with Dawn, ok (kinda) but shake the players hands. You know the ones that played their butts off and beat you soundly.

Thats my big issue, it's disrespectful to not acknowledge the SC players after a game hard fought. Seems like sore loser behavior tbh. The players looked unprepared for the game if im being honest. He was out coached and out fought, and he blames it on the refs??

Geno let his emotions get the best of him at the end because I think he wanted this for the seniors. He sees Dawn as competition now, as he did with Pat and Muffet. Shame he let it get the best of him at the end.
Congrats to SC. I didn’t overlook them. We haven’t been shooting well since Cuse and you have to be clicking to win a championship. This team hasn’t look well since Cuse.

Been wondering for a few weeks if some of the players had nagging injuries that weren’t talked about.
