The women had a great season. We didn’t want it to end like this but it happens. They didn’t play well and it cost them.
The officiating was garbage. UConn’s play in this game was dismal. But the officiating was offensively lopsided in SC’s favor. I still think SC would have won regardless but come on.Refs were bad though, come on. They were all over Strong long before the halftime eruption. They allowed Raven Johnson to get away with a technical while staring straight at her.
Not sure what the post-game nonsense was about but the officiating played into SC's hands.
Trying hard doesn’t win games at this level.. Nobody had any poise that’s why they lost. Congratulate Azzi for a phenomenal career. Sarah will be back to avenge this.I’m giving Ash, KK, and Kayleigh a shoutout. They tried hard all game. I have no idea what was going on with Azzi and Sarah. Serah, too, gave some good minutes
Not sure about "the press" but many here on the Boneyard were bringing these issues up throughout the season. We were winning but not playing well.Entire game was played the way SC wanted it, to the demise of the Huskies.
All the issues covered up by the press were on display tonight. A lack of rebounding, no ability to get to the line, and no depth, contrary to all the assertions otherwise.
Seemed like Geno didn't like the full court pass with under 1 minute of play? He also said at half time the language used by some of the other coaches was out of order. What was that about?
Outclassed?? Can’t buy that. Outplayed and maybe outcoached. Our players did not hit shots they needed to make.Outplayed, outcoached, and outclassed. Congrats to SC. It was a great ride up to the abrupt end. The things some pointed out as weaknesses were on full display today.
Not the ending anyone wanted from the UConn perspective. This team was NOT head and shoulders better than everyone else. Time to lick our wounds, have a great summer off, say goodbye to our seniors, and look forward to next season...
Last thing I will say for next year - I hope fans remember this when they start thinking about saying things like how great we are or how much steamrolling we are doing. We have to just enjoy the ride and appreciate how incredibly hard it is to win a NC. I enjoyed the ride very much this year and will miss Azzi, Carol and Serah.
Congratulations to SC. We seemed a little tentative, unlike last year, where we were the aggressor. It was not the ref’s fault we lost the game, but the foul discrepancy should be addressed. I hope Geno goes out and gets a big that can really grab rebounds. I love KK and I think our defense is amazing, but we really need her to score more.
Thats my big issue, it's disrespectful to not acknowledge the SC players after a game hard fought. Seems like sore loser behavior tbh. The players looked unprepared for the game if im being honest. He was out coached and out fought, and he blames it on the refs??Congrats to South Carolina they manhandled us from the beginning and we really had no true answers. They out rebounded us by 15 and I lost count of the missed layups we had.
They made Sarah and Azzi look pedestrian. Proud of Shade, she played so well. Feel bad for Heckel, hate seeing the players hurting.
Geno needs to be better. You want to beef with Dawn, ok (kinda) but shake the players hands. You know the ones that played their butts off and beat you soundly.
I hope he tells us how he really feels about her.I hope he apologizes to Dawn. Publicly.
Making Hurley looking subduedDisappointed in Geno. That's no way to act.
People keep bringing up the FT differential but which team was also attacking the basket more? It was SC. I get that it was lopsided but again we didn't help ourselvesThey did not play smart, which is not usually a UConn problem. Geno needs to apologize and take the blame. Still free throws were 22 vs 6.
South Carolina played the game in the paint, and they were taller. That's a recipe for drawing fouls. They did not play smart, which is not usually a UConn problem. Geno needs to apologize and take the blame. Still free throws were 22 vs 6.
Been wondering for a few weeks if some of the players had nagging injuries that weren’t talked about.I’m giving Ash, KK, and Kayleigh a shoutout. They tried hard all game. I have no idea what was going on with Azzi and Sarah. Serah, too, gave some good minutes
