South Carolina Postgame Thread

I also find it extreme to call some one an idiot who was purely sticking up for himself for what he felt was a truly disrespectful behavior. Yes could he be more calm and collected, but he was true to himself and his emotions. He let Dawn know how he felt. She knows what she did. I agree He should’ve shook the SC players hands though but please everyone stop trying to act like we are all saints and we’ve never lost our composure once. Especially calling names to the greatest coach in wbb history and asking him to retire.

1) I didn’t call him an idiot
2) but trying to defend him in this moment borders on idiotic. He was pissed sbout the game and let his emotions overtake him and complained about something minor.

Sacrificed Jana and Serah all season.
True but I think his reason was to help Blanca develop sooner. Almost worked but I agree with you, to the possible detriment of Serah and, especially, Jana.
Oh well he knows what he is doing a lot better than I do.

Sorry I quoted you by mistake

.-.
The team had a great season. Tonight they had it handed to them by a good SC team. That doesn't take away from what they were able to do this year. Geno embarrassed himself. Maybe he was trying to take the negativity of the result on him rather than the players (I'll give him the benefit of the doubt) but that wasn't the way to do it.

On to next season.

Yes, Geno with another great teaching moment-how not to act when you just got your butt kicked.
LOL. People here know your schtick. You've been singing from the "I hate Geno" prayerbook for years. As sure as night follows day, you'll be here preaching after a loss. You're never heard from after a big win. Funny how that works.

It wasn’t minor to him though for him to react that way. Do you have the full details? I guess you have the full story so I apologize.

Geno acted like a jerk and was in meltdown mode from the third period through the end of the game,

Enough lectures from the mountaintop about whatever is in head at a given moment. Apologize for the post-game stupidity and then move on to next year.

Recruit some folks who will smack SC back,
This is exactly right. I love Geno but his coaching and behavior tonight was totally unacceptable. Grow up, take the L, and recruit to win next year.

.-.
Love the word "physicality" which essentially means the refs are not calling fouls.
UConn could not make a shot contested or otherwise. They looked tentative, like they were looking over their shoulders.
No one here knows what went on between Geno and Staley, and that is that. Judge if you want, but you have no idea. Personally, Geno gets preference until something concrete comes out. Staley is no angel.
18/22 vs 4/6 is not a normal distribution.

Why mention officiating during a loss it feeds the narrative that’s taking off on social
Media right now about him .

????

Dawn shook is freakin hand and hugged him. What else did he need her to do?
Well according to him. Be on time. If Geno can be there on time shouldn’t Dawn? I know to you this is subtle and minor. But to him it seemed like disrespect and obviously he felt she did it on purpose, it wasn’t like she was in the bathroom and came back and apologized. She knew what she was doing and probably didn’t take the time to apologize or say hey i didn’t hear the announcement. So let’s not kid our selves. Geno wouldn’t make a big deal out of nothing in my mind when it comes to people. He’s one of the most perceptive people I’ve seen.

Let's not forget South Carolina had 2 starters out due to injury all year. This could have been a much larger loss.
They will be a favorite to win it all again next year. Dawn is building a dynasty there.

Shame on anyone being critical of any player. They're hurting more than you are. And they've given us more than we deserve

Shame on anyone being critical if Geno. He's the best in history, and he's human too

And for those giving Geno and / or the team advice, you're in the wrong profession. No matter your career, you're in the wrong profession

THANK YOU HUSKIES
I couldn’t like your comment more. Thanks.

He was upset with Staley and how she acted on the sidelines, as well as the things she said to the officials. UConn was just flat, and nothing seemed to go right, and it seemed that Azzi was hesitant shooting from outside.

Geno is not a Staley fan, and sorry, but her demeanor is tough to take when she yells at the officials and gets her way by intimidation
Who are you to judge? What does she do that Danny or any other intense coach does?

Then please tell us what the solution is? UConn has been trying to get into a power conference for over a decade

This complaint is getting old.
Schedule better OOC. But some of that was bad luck this year.

And for women's team only fans: the way you saw South Carolina grab and claw UConn all night, welcome to every Big East game on the men's side. It is an awful exhibition of basketball (that I largely take with a grain of salt).

Although for them it is like running with weights for two-plus months and then having those weights taken off come NCAA tournament time.

You’re making a bunch of assumptions. All I can tell you is that there is an actual video of Dawn shaking every UConn coach’s hand, including Geno’s while also hugging him.

It does look like Dawn had some pre planned gamesmanship mapped out for her team to throw Geno off and it worked. If it's true that Geno had to wait for 3 minutes its absolutely planned. Don't have to like it but hey thats their business.

Geno let that really affect his composure all game. I'm sure most of the frustration was the way the game was officiated and way we came out of the half.

I’m in the minority. I support Geno Auriemma. Yes he lost his cool, but I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt. He’s gained my trust in him as a person for me to give him the benefit of the doubt. Geno you’ll come back better after this, go scorched earth amd do what you need to do to get back to the very top again.
Grow up. People make bad decisions. He’s great but he acted like a fool tonight.

Geno should just say I'm Italian and I do dumb stuff sometimes, so sorry. It worked after benching Stewie and Tuck that one time. And then just say I apologize to Coach Staley, South Carolina, and my team for doing that, and move on. And then call Coach Staley and tell it to her and say good luck the rest of the way. It's quite easy to make amends here.

Tough way to go out..Yes Sarah didn't shoot well and was mugged all night long but at least she had a double double This was Azzi's 3rd game in a row not shooting well..1st pick in the draft?
I congratulate SC cuz they outplayed Uconn and I was afraid they'd get killed on the boards and they did
Yes it was a bad look for Geno..wonder what he meant saying Dawn calling the refs such and such
Felt really bad when k9 missed the lay up and was in tears cuz she played her heart out
