South Carolina (23) @ Texas A&M (21) - 1/03/19

I will be recording it while watching UConn/Baylor. I think it will all come down to SC's guard defense. Let Carter have her 30, and force A&M into bad decisions. The other four in the floor often often get giddy in the rare instances when they touch the ball and unload bad shots.

A&M has had a disastrous 3rd quarter. SC outscores them 21-11 to take a one-point lead into 4Q.
 
Washing off the UConn game to see a close contested matchup.
 
A&M down by 2 with the ball on a final possession. Carter drives and gets fouled by Herbert Harrigan (who fouls out in the process).

Carter makes the first FT but misses the second. SC has the ball and a one-point lead with 7 seconds left.

Dawn has good plan for Carter.

Tonight she was clearly exhausted beginning in 3rd quarter.

South Carolina starting to show some grit. Definitely playing a good bit better, but it’s still a struggle.

Herbert-Harrigan was good.

Cooper was pretty good too.
 
Very nice win for SC. Shooting 19% in the 2nd Half will usually get you beat.

I wonder if either of these teams has enough offense to challenge MSU.

Right now it seems MSU is the SEC's best with UK and UT battling for second and after tonight SC ahead of TAMU. It'll be interesting to see who rises up in league play and if MSU gets knocked off anywhere along the way.

Carter completely worn down in the second half, shooting 0-10 from the field for 3 points after scoring 16 in the first half.
 
Does Lower Carolina play both Tenn and Kentucky twice this season?

Carter had a new defender almost every possession it seems. I think A&M played into SC’s hands the 2nd half, the whole A&M squad was visibly gassed. SC has too many guards to try to get into a track meet.

That wasn’t a good shooting night from SC. I’ve seen us shoot better this season, even from the three. Even a normal night offensively and that’s a comfortable win. I’m preparing myself for a lot of close games this season.
 
I don't know what Carter's final stats were tonight, but after watching the game, Carter was a liability for Texas A&M. I especially don't like that Carter plays half-hearted team defense. Carter would be pulled out of the lineup on some other teams whose coaches demand you play gut-checking defense.

I’ve rarely seen a player be quite that obvious about how gassed she was.

Don’t know if she was putting some of it on, but I’d suggest that maybe she needs more rest during the game.

Particularly when a team is deliberately running her.

Well, her stat line backs up your assessment. Only saw the end of the game where Carter missed the second FT which could have tied the game at 58.

At times I feel like if Blair tried to take her she wouldn’t leave the floor. She might be the coach. I watch their sideline interactions and the dynamic is interesting..

She gives Coach Blair so much attitude. I don't know how he tolerates it.
 
I still feel like Iowa St is better than both of these teams and that neither should be in the top 25 at this moment.
