Sources: MLB mulling major changes to playoffs
Major League Baseball is weighing a switch that would increase the number of playoff teams in each league to seven, with three division winners and four wild cards, starting with the 2022 season.

Not a huge MLB fan but this does not sound appealing to me, at all. Are the 11-14th place teams really going to have any kind of chance of winning it all? I guess on occasion the 11th place team is really solid sometimes even around 90 wins (Indians 93-69 from this previous year) but there are some pretty bad teams for #13th and #14th a lot of years.
I'd rather miss out on the occasional awesome 11th team, like those 93 win Indians last year than have some lackluster 13th and/or 14th place teams from now on (84-78 Redsox being one of the better 14th teams in recent memory). The Cubs were the 15th place team at 84-78 last year. Other than that I wonder when the last time was that the 15th best team finished over .500.
Thoughts? Opinions?
