mr hayes was something else. some years back (15?) at that kinda diner at mohegan, and around 2-3am, i walk in to get a bite, and who do you think is settin there? i say something like 'hey chef! u a great dude! thanks for all ur stuff!' looks at me, smiles, says 'what?' im like, 'ur great, gandy! i luv that rockford files show, and shaft is one of the nicest sounding tunes, ever!' he smiles again, and sez something like 'i saw u at the tables, have a seat...'
we talked for a bit, 'dude! soul man is a timeless classic!' and such. as fine a guy as there was, rip mr hayes, u brought a lot of joy to people on ur journey.
