Songs About Wistful, Beautiful Moments, Things, or Times Past

I really liked Steely Dan before the album Katy Lied came out, but this song- Dr Wu, from that lbum, made me sit up and really take notice. I was thinking these guys are mystical, painting pictures with lyrics and instruments, seemingly weaving jazz and rock together so effortlessly - and I think I love it:

One of my favorites from Janis Ian, and perfect for this thread. She had success as a teen in the 60's and made a "comeback" at the ripe old age of 23 in the 70's. This song is from the in-between period, basically her first grown-up album, which did poorly.

When I worked in the music business I sent Janice Ian a nice note about "At Seventeen" and how meaningful it was.

She replied within the day and was thankful for hearing her songs from then still held meaning a decade or so later.

John Sebastian's "Darling Be Home Soon" was an amazing end to Woodstock and easily found on YT. Cannot post link at work as YT is blocked but nevertheless a really good rendition from his Spoonful days.
