Songs About Wistful, Beautiful Moments, Things, or Times Past

Wistful, beautiful moments...all here. Done well by Harry Belafonte and The Brothers Four, of course, but I like Roger Whittaker's version, with these beautiful moments in the video. Good theme suggestion, Scud49.

Sit back and let Robin Trower put you in a place of bliss:

For me, this is the ultimate nostalgia song. Some Other Time, from the Broadway score of On the Town.

"Where has the time all gone to?
Haven't done half the things we want to
Oh well, we'll catch up some other time.."

The Song "Autumn in New York" reminds me of my childhood and young adulthood in NYC. The version by Billie Holiday will be played at my funeral. But, here's a wistful version by the wonderful Diana Krall.

"Paddy's Lament" hits hard for those of us with deep Irish roots. Here's a version from Sinead O'Connor.

"Oh here's you boys, now take my advice
To America I'll have you's not be coming
There is nothing here but war, where the murderin' cannons roar
And I wish I was at home in dear old Dublin..."

Robert Goulet was always driving by in his Mercedes convertible in the summer. More often than not he'd gives us kids a friendly way and radiant smile. This was very popular way back when:

Got on board a westbound 747
Didn't think before deciding what to do
Oh, that talk of opportunities, TV breaks and movies
Rang true, sure rang true
Seems it never rains in southern California
Seems I've often heard that kind of talk before
It never rains in California
But girl, don't they warn ya?
It pours, man, it pours
Out of work, I'm out of my head
Out of self respect, I'm out of bread
I'm underloved, I'm underfed
I wanna go home
