McD is Adam Morrison reincarnated.

Not really the same type of player but in terms of NBA potential I see it. Outstanding college player but I'm not sure why he is projected as a lottery/top ten pick. Great footwork and moves but relatively slow of foot. At 6'7" too small to cover NBA fours and way too slow to cover most NBA threes. tweener in the Harangody mold?

I think Napier shines, in my humble view, because he does it in the most competitive games ... in the most competitive matchups ... against better teams ... and at the most key moments. Cotton? I am sure he is good. But, one guy does it on Broadway & the other does it in the Shubert in New Haven.

I think Napier shines, in my humble view, because he does it in the most competitive games ... in the most competitive matchups ... against better teams ... and at the most key moments. Cotton? I am sure he is good. But, one guy does it on Broadway & the other does it in the Shubert in New Haven.

McNamara is severely bitter about the conference breakup. He has taken numerous shots at college football and the ACC for years. He's just another small-minded-let-me-tell-you-how-great-things-were-in-1985 guy from Rhode Island.

Prediction that will make me look stupid: Shabazz Napier will channel his inner Kemba Walker and UConn will streak into the NCAA tournament by winning its last nine regular-season games and the inaugural American tournament. Napier will be in the player of the year conversation and hard to keep off All-American ballots. And help four old ladies safely cross an intersection.

Yeah, this is totally a prisoner of the moment thing.

Napier just about single-handedly beat Memphis on Saturday afternoon, so indulge the frenzy.

The reality is, the surrounding cast of Huskies aren't nearly as good as the ones Walker had around him. There is no Alex Oriakhi here or Roscoe Smith, and Ryan Boatright isn't as reliable a backcourt mate as Jeremy Lamb.

Napier has carried UConn for virtually the entire year, asked to do more longer even than Walker did back in 2011.

And Napier won't play his conference tourney in Madison Square Garden, where UConn fans can turn it into a home court. The Huskies will go to Memphis, the Tigers' legit home court.

So logically and realistically this is silly, totally knee-jerk, ride the hot hand kind of hysteria.

However ... the American isn't the Big East. It's not even half of it. It's a five-team conference with a bunch of drivel.

And the schedule breaks nicely for UConn. The Huskies have six regular-season games left. Three are against Temple, South Florida and Rutgers. Napier could hop on one foot and UConn would win those.

Two of the three remaining trickier ones, against SMU (who'd a thunk we'd ever say tricky and SMU in the same sentence?) and Cincinnati are at home; the other at Louisville to finish up the season. The Cards are nearly as interior-challenged as the Huskies and Napier can go mano-a-mano with Russ Smith any day (he did, after all, have 30 against UL earlier this year).

And then it's on to the conference tournament, where the Huskies will get a bye at least to the quarterfinals. So I'm saying there's a chance.

I'm not looking past this year at all in the way that I think you are talking about. Just talking about Goodman and his penchant for taking shots at UConn and how it will likely increase next year.

He also pointed out how Bazz has more help in Boat and DD, someone might want to tell him to look at Boat and DD's numbers vs high level/major conf teams. The Memphis game on Saturday was really the first time all year that Boat came through in the scoring column to help Bazz against a high level opponent.

The funny part is he was almost as good last year and he wasn't even acknowledged as one of the best PG's (did he even make the Cousy list?). The postseason ban exposure hit was definitely a real thing.

I completely agree. I thought the same thing about Kemba during his sophomore season. They struggled so no one was talking about him but any UConn fan could have told you he would be great his junior year (obviously not to the extent that he was, but it seemed like the national media thought he came out of nowhere when he had already been tearing up lesser big east guards for over a year).

Napier is the best out of those without a doubt and it's a huge gap between him and who's in second... I think wibekin is second and the rest are up for grabs

I am surprised that Russ Smith of Louisville is not on the Cousy guard list. He is really good, An important part of NCAA contender team.
