Some Gandy photos

Is Gandy holding her own against Serah? Ice? Jana? Ayanna?
Doubtful. I am hoping fans keep an open mind regarding Gandy. She's not played the game for very long, is VERY raw, and while athletic and a good mover and probably a solid defender, she has a long way to go.

Having said that, perhaps she will be a huge surprise. I just don't want fans to expect too much after seeing a few photos and videos, and then being disappointed when we get to see her in game action come November.

She has a lot to learn. That seems obvious. But she also seems to be very willing. That combined with her significant physical abilities suggests that in a year or two she could be ready to terrorize the rest of D1. And I have a feeling practicing against Serah will be very good for her.

He's not allowed to hold official practices yet, right?

Thank goodness he's got Carol and Azzi to do it for him. It's practically a team full of player-coaches.

Coaches are allowed to work with the team four hours a week.

Sara and Gandy? Two very different type of players. Suspect that Jana and Gandy will learn from each other. Both are still a bit raw but having another true big to practice against is ideal.

This is Gandy's freshman year, and although she has a lot to learn, practicing against Serah, Sarah, Ice and Jana everyday for a year should really help speed up her development. You can never have too many big's. Hopefully we will see her game grow during the season and by next year she will be ready to contribute big time. For years I have read post regarding UConn's lack of big's, well not this year.

I’m not sure who Sara is. If you mean Sarah, then I completely agree. But Serah has a lot to teach Gandy about low post moves, developing and defending a midrange jump shot, shot blocking and rebounding. They’re not identical types, but there’s a lot of overlap in their skills and the ways they can contribute. Plus, Serah knows how to get out in transition and this is definitely something Gandy needs to learn since she already runs really well.

Looks like Geno is up top taking it all in. :)
It's also being taped so Geno can start his critiquing of each player. I bet all of the coaches get a copy and watch for tendencies that need to be worked on when practices do start.
