LSU or Penn St?
To me it's a toss up, no preference.

Doesn't matter who we want because the B1G has shown itself to be a pretender of a conference this far, while the SEC has proven that it's rock solid. Based on how its six conference mates have gone out, does anyone have any faith that Penn State can win this game in Red Stick? Sorry, Icebear.

I agree about the SEC. They have done well so far. Not sure about LSU though. They were tied with San Diego State with 5 minutes left. Not very impressive. They turn the ball over like crazy. Not ONE player with a positive A/TO ratio. And they don't shoot well from 3. Penn St. will play them tough.

LSU definitely didn't set the world on fire against SDSU, but the same could be said for Penn State vis a vis UTEP.

Between LSU having homecourt and the result of the South Carolina-Purdue game, I think LSU wins this.

Either team is going to have a very tough go of it if they face the UConn team we've seen these last four games.

I don't like to mess with the mojo by preferring a team.

I think PSU has performed a little better this season. They have the better offense. I think LSU is the better defensive club.

I have watched Penn State quite a bit this year, so I would like to se us play them. They do have some size, quick guards and shooters. It should be interesting, but I think if our D can force the tempo and style of play, UConn wins but Maggie Lucas won't go away without a fight. I've also wanted to see Bentley vs. Faris since 2008, but it hasn't happend yet.

I have absolutely no fear of either team beating UConn so I would much rather Penn State win because that will be a much more enjoyable game to watch UConn play, but I also would prefer Penn State just beats LSU.

As Bruinbball said there is an opportunity for Kelly Faris to guard Alex Bentley as well as Maggie Lucas. Caroline would get the chance to play against Maggie Lucas, her friend and high school teammate. And overall Penn State plays more attractive basketball to watch.

I won't know until after the game starts and I get a better feeling about each team.

I mean after watching how tough those Green Bay kids were, I was actually hoping the 2 seed would win!

Doesn't matter to me. I really don't have a huge preference. I like when we beat SEC schools. So if I was forced to pick, it would be LSU.

I like it even better when SEC schools lose in the 2nd round.

I prefer LSU, because I would like to see how Caldwell interacts with Geno and the coaching staff. I mention this because I remember when UConn played Texas, Demoss escaped to the lockeroom to avoid the end of the game handshake with Geno. I would think that Caldwell would show more class, but you never know.

Let's be very careful of what we wish for .......LSU nor Penn State didnt get here by magic. But by beating another good team. K-State was wishing to get a chance at playing UConn after being in our Region the last few years and look what happened. If we can play with energy and intensity on every possession , at both ends of the court, I too think we can beat anybody. But teams get very dangerous when playing for a spot in the Elite 8 , and ultimately the Final 4.

Not sure of your point. UConn will have to play one or the other, so what is the issue for stating a preference?

Does it really matter? UCONN should pound either team! I just don't see a close game against LSU or Penn ST.

The correct answer to the over asked question: " Whom do prefer to play next?"
is
"We don't really care who we play, we are just happy for the opportunity to keep playing."

Note to athletes: Do not deviate from the standard answer.

i will say, of the 1 and 2 seeds who have played 2 rounds (UCONN, Stanford, Kentucky, Maryland, Tennessee), UCONN's performances have been the most impressive. Baylor had a killer first round - we will see how they do against Cal. Stanford won fairly easily, but Maryland and Kentucky struggled. Tennessee won, but not in a dominating fashion.

anyway, back to the original question... if UCONN plays like they did in the 2nd half vs. PV, or the entire game vs, K-state, i think the roll over either PSU or LSU by 20+. i like rooting against the SEC so i'd like to see LSU lose - both the big east and SEC got 8 teams into the dance and so far, South Carolina beaten a higher seed. i'd like to see Georgetown do the same but i think that's a tall order.

PSU because I live in PA and am surrounded by their fans, so it would be a fun matchup.

To doggydaddy. The point was not to wish for one over the other......That both are good and are dangerous. In other words, be careful of what you wish for.

If they are both good and dangerous, then how could wanting one over the other be something you need to be careful about??

In any event, neither are good enough to be dangerous to UConn. If you really think that you haven't been watching enough. Any of the 1 seeds would be favored by double digits. 20+ is what I would expect.

In the NCAA I respect all opponents i.e. Ball State. I'm not exactly wishing one opponent over another and if I was I'm also wishing we continue to win - got it all covered. I would like UConn's next opponent to be of a caliber and style of play that our girls could learn something from and add to their momentum against the next challenger. That said, and I don't pretend to know much about LSU or Penn State but I think Penn State should be able to provide that.

I'd rather they just kick butt. It's not the time to learn something. And kicking butt will add to their momentum.

LSU is offensively challenged. They wouldn't score 50 points. Penn State is a little better with the threat of Lucas shooting 3's. We have the cure for that in Faris and the rest of the defense.

UConn is NOT Tennessee 2008-9.
