After Griner / EDD / Diggins, who will be the fourth pick? I don't see anyone who really stands out as being the obvious choice, but there is this one player with a Hoosier pedigree whose stat line in the NCAA tournament, and especially in the Final Four, certainly commends her for consideration.

I believe Mike Thibault of the Mystics owns that choice. I'm not sure that perimeter players are at the top of his wish list, but he might trade the pick to a team that does need perimeter depth in exchange for some experienced size.

Minnesota is a team that might be willing to make that kind of trade. Devereaux Peters for the pick would keep the deal within Indiana.

Probably Kelsey Bone.

That occurred to me, but I very much doubt it. Thibault can't afford a "miss" with this pick, which is crucial to rebuilding that franchise and securing his personal future. Bone is much too big a risk, with a high potential to be a total washout (or a best a multi-year project before she realizes her physical potential).

I just read that Cambage will not return to the WNBA again next year.

I agree. Bone is a huge risk, would not take her there.

The Maryland post player Hawkins would be a better pick for size.

Kelsey Bone will go either 4th or 5th to New York which also has the 7th pick in the round. New York can take the risk on the 5th pick and get a very productive player with the 7th pick.

I think you have to be Kelly Faris' s agent or at least want to be her agent. I agree she has a lot to offer but she does have offensive limitations. She has worked on that facet this year and has had a decent amount of success improving her shooting. Time will tell where she goes but no one will ever doubt her hustle or her desire! She's a true energy machine!

Washington needs a lot, but most importantly they need a shooting guard and a center. So the question is what draft prospect can come in and be better than the shooting guard and center they currently have.

Frankly, I don't see Tianna Hawkins (who is more of a power forward anyway) or Kelsey Bone being more productive than Kia Vaughn this year.

Matee Ajavon is fast but is an erratic shooter and I think that they can get a better shooting guard than her in this draft. I know Taylor Hill struggled this year shooting the ball, but she was also trying to become a facilitator as well and she will be able to focus more on scoring next year.

At the end of the day though you have Mike Thilbeault making the pick, so who knows what he'll do.

While it is difficult for a GM to pick Kelly Faris at 4, it would be the best thing to do. Whoever picks Kelly this year will have earned the "genius" label by WNBA season's end. Although Kelly is not a post player, she has Bill Russell characteristics. This means, her team wins, your team and its all stars lose. That is not an individual statistic. Russell didn't score a lot of points. But the statistic that matters is the W/L column.

All joking aside I don't really think Kelly will go #4. I do, however, expect her to go in the top 10, possibly has high as 6 or 7. When you consider Novasel was taken in the first round at about that spot in the draft, Faris is light years better.

Depends what a team needs, and if they need a big post or a shooting guard who's comfortable popping 18 shots a game, that's not Kelly, but with a 53% shooting touch this year that includes a 41.5% 3-pt average and a hard-nosed ability to get to the ball that made her one of the Huskies' 4-headed rebounding hydra, she has shown a more-than-strong competence in the offensive areas to go with her lockdown defensive rep. Any top scoring WNBA guard or wing on the other teams next season is going to be saying "Oh, god, I got Faris on me again. I feel sick." when her team comes up on the schedule. That's a priceless asset, like an MLB team having the slickest by far shotstop who also has good pop in the bat.

Though certainly not as high as #4, our Destiny Williams is going to be a sleeper. Last year a solid starter on our team, but this year had to split time with Pope. Pros will see that Pope is NOT a wise choice in the first round--she's just too inconsistent with the ball offensively, but Williams is one of the hardest working rebounders in the game and is confident among big bodies.

Time will tell that KMulkey HAD to give POPE some starting time or we would have had ZERO production our of her. That is to say, had Williams had a full senior year to continue playing 30+ minutes a game, she would have been a post-season honor type. Look for some GM who needs rebounding to take her higher than most might think.

I would vote for Farris, but I just don't see her as a scoring #3 in the WNBA and as much the ultimate "hustle" player as she is, I don't see a GM taking her that high. If a team can afford to draft for defensive purposes only, then Farris is a sure investment.

If a player can diminish her oppositions scoring output 50%, and can score 7-8 points per game doing so, they can essentially neutralize the scoring of a 16 ppg scorer. Kelly has that capability. There are 20 players in the league that averaged over 14 per game last year with 5-6 of those being post players. Granted, I think it will be difficult for her to score and I expect Kelly's percentage to drop some as well, but her ability to make the other teams best scoring guard work hard for everything they get will be a great asset for her team. While I would love to see her so to Minnesota, I really think Seattle takes her at 6 (I hope she doesn't go to Washington ).

If Washington needs a guard what about Sugar Rodgers?
