You should have stopped there.
What the university did in regard to other people's contracts is irrelevant. Like you said, UConn is exercising its right to terminate for cause. They chose not to exercise their right to terminate JC.
That's how contracts work.
It took an uneducated kid from the LA gang land, gave him a degree and lead him to an NBA career in which he earned in excess of $20,000,000. Then, when his playing days were over, UConn hired him as an assistant coach, despite his lack of qualifications. Then it made him head coach in 2012, again despite a lack of qualifications. He earned over $11,000,000 as head coach over the last 6 years.
