Kelly said that after the BET loss Geno had told them, "I'm going to show you how to win a national championship." But when asked for specifics she just said that Geno might want to keep it secret and threw it over to her coach, who never specifically addressed the question in any interviews I saw.

The players said they were asked to commit to focusing harder, ignoring the distractions like parties and boy friends, and completely having each other's backs. Geno mentioned something about putting the past behind and lightening up a bit. Stewie was taking a lot of after-practice drills with CD the elder. But something apparently just clicked, doubts flew away, light flooded in, and an NC was indeed won.

Any guesses what the main ingredients in Geno's secret potion for 2014 were?

One ingredient is commitment to excellence. Wanting perfection. Accepting nothing less.

This is one thing I don't see in any of the other schools I have followed. Attitude.

Also, believing you ARE the best. That's why Geno once said that most teams lose before they step on the court. Because they think they are going to. Attitude.

Of course, great players and great x and o coaching don't hurt either!!!

Yeah, it stunk. It was the last question asked of the students but they wouldn't let him answer it because it was for them. He never got back to it. I think it has been discussed that he just focused on what each player was good at and got rid of some of the clutter impeding their ability to do what they do best.

I think a lot had to do with the BE tourney. Players were getting healthy before the BET then when the pressure was on they reacted and stopped thinking. They were focused on what to do to win and not mechanics . They reacted to situations and again didn't think. For any of you who play golf you know what it is to try and do what you were taught instead of just swinging the club. Well I believe what happened to Breanna and everybody else is they reacted and stopped thinking and the result was confidence and it spread throughout the team and the result was a NC.

One thing that was mentioned that I think is very true of this teams' makeup was that they needed to stop deferring. Each person had to accept responsibility for doing what they do well and not wait for someone else to come to the rescue. Everyone became more committed to having each others back. The team as a whole became more decisive. There were better picks, snappier cuts etc.
