We took out L'ville at L'vile. So Florida at a neutral site should be a cupcake.

And how did we beat L'ville without any talent as the Courant stories have recently informed us.

Since we joined the Big East, we have three times beaten teams that went on to a BCS Bowl. Pitt in '04, Cincy in '08 and Louisville in '12. This is the first time that we beat a team that went on to win its BCS bowl game.

Before we started moving backward, we really weren't further away from being able to compete with big time schools having good years than good QB play.

It all makes sense now...L'ville beat Florida, Florida beat LSU, LSU beat A&M, A&M beat Bama, can't figue out why uconn didn't get a bowl bid.

Be fair about it, the Pitt and Cincinnati teams were not as good as that Louisville team. Beating them this year was remarkable, unfortunately, that win pales in comparison to the losses to Western Michigan, Temple and USF. This is going to be GREAT year for us. Either P will deliver an unexpected result, or he will be fired.

My friends at LSU can't believe we beat that Louisville team. They keep asking what happened in those other games, lol. The key to last nights win was how cool under pressure Bridgwater was. They tried to intimidate the heck out of him, especially on that first helmet crunch, but he was unflappable. And accurate.

I understand what you mean, but I have a hard time saying it is a great year of the team sucks and PP gets fired.

Our defense was every bit as good as Florida's this past year and that's what makes me sick about no bowl game in 2012 the most. We could have hired an 8 year old away from calling plays in his video game and gotten to a bowl game with the defense that we had this past year. The bittersweet: we should be represented pretty well in the draft and 2013 NFL defenses.

I was just going to say this. It's no joke, our defense was as good as Florida's, but somehow they went to Western Michigan flatter then a pancake.

So if UConn beat Louisville which beat Florida, then UConn can't claim they can beat Florida, just because they beat Louisville? The "associative" property does not hold, you say with sarcasm?

And yet, according to Herbie on ESPN, Louisville is no good because they lost to UConn. What a moron. He is not even aware he is using the same logic, basically, in reverse.

Our defense this season was as good as just about anybody in the country, even with Joseph and Jennings going down for big parts of the season. Now, this coaching staff managed 5 wins with this defense and a promising QB, but that's another matter.

Herbstreet doesn't know what he's talking about. He's one of those fools that thinks if it's not SEC or old money, its gotta be crap. Cuse crushed WVU in the Pinstripe Bowl. UConn's D was damn good and would have won more than 5 games with GDL out. UL didn't beat Florida because Florida "was disinterested". UF was hitting hard in the 1st Q ripping off helmets and acting like their normal thug selves to try to intimidate UL like South Carolina tried doing to us a few years ago. When that didn't happen, UL won because they have every bit as much talent as FLorida and outplayed them last night. Herbstreet can suck on it and Florida.

If you were able to select a team to coach and had the UofL roster and the UofFl roster which would you take? I am guessing most people would be selecting the UofFl roster.

We didn't have video game talent on offense.

The line was bad until they got coached up a bit by the end of the season and our QB was the most turnover prone in all of college football.

Tough to win many games with those two factors.

A roster as a whole? I'd take UL and I'm not just saying that because they won. I think Bridgewater >>> Driskel. I also think that the talent/speed level is not all that far off between the two...at least not to overcome the huge disparity at QB. So yes, I'd take UL's complete roster over UF's complete roster today.

The Pitt team in '04 sucked, and had no business going to a BCS bowl game. I'm not sure, however, that prior to their bowl games LU '12 did anything to distinguish it as being a level above Cincy '08.

I agree that UL has the better QB but feel that UF has the better talent. If this was a 7 game series I would expect UF to win in five, six at the most.

Strong did a very good job of having his team up for this game. That was not the case all year. UL had a few close calls this year. Games they pulled out late that should never have been a game in the first place. FIU and Southern Miss come to mind. They were 6-7 against the spread this year.

Congrats on taking over the early lead for the dumbest comment of the year.

UF has some "close" calls too:
vs. Bowling Green 27-14 (was 17-14 headed into the 4Q)
vs. Missouri 14-7 (down 7-0 at halftime)
vs La-Lafeyette 27-20 (blocked punt with 2 minutes left to win)
vs Jacksonville State 23-0 (you'd expect MUCH more from the "#3" team at home against a FCS opponent, right??)

All I'm saying is that there are media darling teams out there whose value is incredibly overrated. This year, Florida was one of those teams.

Thanks Jerry! My guess is that you're a Florida fan or one of those fans who look at the logo on the uniform as opposed to the talent within it. See my post above this one and convince me that Florida is SO much better than Louisville.

Jesus, you must not follow the game much or ever watch it.

You do realize they won all those games you listed? They also beat 3 top 10 teams I believe.

They held UGA to 20 points below their average. A&M 27 below theirs. South Carolina 20 below theirs. FSU 2 TD's under theirs. In all those games you for some silly reason listed they gave up a combined 41 points, which is about the same UConn gave up to Syracuse.

No one is arguing Florida has a great offense, but to say their D is better then UConn's is flat out wrong and uninformed.

The SEC teams are in the top 10 because they are in the top 10 preseason.

An ACC team beat the mighty LSU, and Georgia and USC look like they are slightly better than decent B1G teams.

The SEC is way over rated... this year.

Florida was 23rd to start the year and A&M was not ranked, so that initial point is just wrong.

Trying to judge a team off a game, which means nothing, played 5 weeks after the season is over is just silly.

That Clemson team was handled South Carolina in the regular season and barely beat Auburn, GT was BLOWN OUT by UGA, that LSU beat a bowl bound PAC 12 team by almost 40 in the regular season when games matter. Oh, and how about that Bama Michigan score?

Again judging a team off a bowl game is just stupid, look what they do when the game counts and they are in season.
