Yeah. I checked out Nan's recruiting site when he said "Bakersfield" and saw that she'd posted that he was going to see her next week.

Hope she likes what she sees.

We've heard more recruiting news in the last 2 weeks than the prior 2 months.

I hope Geno likes both McCall and Chong.

Isn't it funny that 2 players not on UCONN's radar are both top of the list?.......Safe travels

I would love to see some more CA girls on the team.
Geno went to see Samuelson from Huntington Beach a couple of weeks ago and now McCall....sweet.

Hope we can land at least one of them. Maybe KML needs to give them a call and tell them the winters arn't so bad.....Halloween was brutal, but winter was pretty good. LOL

yes it really seems to be heating up. it seems that several of the ND fans have made comments that they think Taya is leaning towards ND so IMHO it's possible Geno and co. have targeted McCall as a result of that. if i had to guess, they still feel good about Diamond since they aren't looking at any athletic wing types. and i'm not sure how they still feel about Samuelson, but it appears there is mutual interest in Chong, and she seems like she may be a better player.

I'm not sure who is the better player, but I love Chong's offense and hope she signs with UCONN. Another guard wouldn't be bad either, so we may also end up with Samuelson or someone else. I feel good about Diamond ending up at UCONN. As I posted in another thread my guess is that Taya goes to ND so Erica McCall just may be a future UCONN Husky.

With the few # of verbals across the board for 2013,it is not surprising that talk is picking up! If we were to get DD,everything else would be gravy as far as the front court for 2013. Given that we have the #1 Stewart and possibly as high as #3 in Tuck:) who will just be SOs in 2013. Stokes will be a JR. McCall is not chopped liver and maybe reaching a new level;) Samulson has a sister 2015,who may be the best of the Samulson sisters.

Hey! From Chicago and the only recruit I know that has a lot of college coaches in the gym's here is Linnae Harper (5-6 PG). Not sure if thats who she is seeing. I will search the morning papers to see if there is any word.

My guess is it would be Morgan and simply a maintenance and connection visit.

McCall can play. I saw her last summer for her AAU team. Athletic too. I think she is about 6'2"-6'3" and played PF or C. She plays for a HS called Ridgeview in the Bakersfield area. I would think it would be better to judge ones ability against some competition, like on her AAU team, but my name isnt Geno, so my vote doesnt count. I think the Ridgeview team beat whoever they were playing by about 40 points, maybe 65-23. There isnt a lot of talented teams in that neck of the woods, or in Bakersfields case dust bowl/farm lands. Her dad coaches Cal State Bakersfield, a recently added D1 team that is not in a conference as of yet. Was hoping she would stay out west, but what ever is best for her, good luck.

Here is her USA Basketball profile

Hey I just read this and did not know about McCall

  • Sister, DeWanna Bonner, played basketball at Auburn and now for the WNBA Phoenix Mercury; DeWanna Bonner is a two-time USA Basketball gold medalist (2006 FIBA Americas U20 Championship and 2007 FIBA U21 World Championship).

But most importantly, she has the requisite "-a" vowel at the end of her name......:p

Well, if Geno's the Godfather like Tina said, he should be running an organization with a lot of vowels at the end of names. :)

I like that her father is a coach. And her sister is a pro, so she may have high aspirations.

I had not heard that Shea was going to Chicago. Morgan sounds like the reason, but how far are Reimer and even Mavunga from Chicago?

I hope we are solid with Diamond. There is no other wing who is part of a backup plan. Dominique Wilkins is too old and the wrong gender.

I think the reason for so few commits in 2013 is that the top dogs have not decided. Once Diamond, Mercedes, and apparently Kaela announce, things will begin to sort out.

That's my thought exactly! I think when 1-2 verbal the chips will fall. Just waiting on the first one to make the move.
