CPTV was never going to match it. They couldn't. Wouldn't be responsible for them to, either. They're still using UConn to anchor their new sports TV channel (which is the product of some rather clever/brilliant interpretations of broadcast law...it has to be carried by LAW by any operator in the state because it's part of CPTV). CPTV could barely afford the last contract they signed.
This is best for all parties. The games will be on ESPN3, and it gives SNY a very valuable asset:
They can now broadcast something other than the Mets. That's a plus.
