@aoriakhi: To coaches out there with slave master mentality, ur days are over. Bully only leads to resentments. Bb is a fun game not a mental hospital.

For those who don't get the OP. That's AO Sr. btw.

So glad this pair is gone. Alex has always been soft and could have been so much better with some effort/toughness. Guess it's easy to see where he gets it from. Good riddance don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

wow talk about mixing hyperbole with loaded terms...

does he think his son is the first person ever to get the quick hook? speaking of which, a baby hook would have really helped AO get more minutes. Hard to believe these words are seriously coming from a member of the UConn family

what a joke

Not directing this at any one person - just a general statement.

When you're stupid, try not to advertise just how stupid you are.

And when you're stupid and have yet managed to reproduce, double-down on keeping that stupid under wraps lest it limit the options available to your offspring any more than it has to.

I'm sure that tweet will cross the mind of any coach willing to consider Alex. Nice work, dad.

Unrelated note -

When the horde of former players arrive for Calhoun's next charity game, some of them mega-millionaires and all of them thrilled to come back for their coach, perhaps Mr. Oriakhi should wonder why they made it through the 'plantation' and his son didn't.

Then, look in a mirror 'til the light bulb goes off.

So can we finally agree all the people calling out Oriakhi in the past couple of days have been 1000% absolutely right.

It's like his father really doesn't want the UConn fans to remember his son fondly.

I think he and his dad are going to end up regretting this.

But players transfer A LOT at UConn, and I've never seen the board this angry at a kid for transferring. Both sides usually end up better off, but maybe not in this case.

Similar to the Edsall thing I'd say. No one thinks he's wrong for transferring per say (esp if the ban holds up) its the way he's going out that's pissing people off.

That's his Dad's tweet, not Alex.

Mr. Oriakhi is a clueless moron though to even say something like that.

his dad bascially just dug him a grave for transfering. any mid major thats thinking they are already ncaat built for next year now won't chance on him. his best shot now is for him to join the rutgers kid and goto uri with hurley or Jamal Coombs-McDaniel at hofstra. forget playing after college ao. get your degree and move away from home.

There are things more complicated with this transfer for the first time that there was a board. This kid was a captain, and a lead member of the championship team.

It would be like Kevin Freeman celebrating the championship by transferring.
It would be like Rashad Anderson being discontent in 2005 and then leaving.

Couple that with our anxieties about the future of the program (no NCAAs?) and the potential effect on the APR, and you can I think see why emotions are running high.

Beloved player appears to become malcontent, leaves in a sad way that could hurt the program.

Full disclosure, I know several members of Alex's extended family and they all have nothing but glowing things to say about him, his sister, and his mother. Never have I heard them even mention dad. Not once. Now it could be that all of these people are related on his mother's side but who knows. I also know one of his first high school coaches from Brooks school very well and he would always change the subject when the topic of Alex came up. From speaking with this coach's father, who is a close friend, the move from Brooks to Tilton was not done in the neatest of manners either. No more details than that really.

Anyway, I am glad that his father is being removed from this program. Alex, I will miss, but the high matainence baggage can go now.

This shouldn't be a surprise. AO and Jamal Coombs-McDaniel have both run from competition in the past when they were challenged. Remember they both started at The Winchendon School when they first began HS, but didn't start because it is a loaded program with great talent. When faced with having to earn a spot the next year, they both decided to run from the challenge and go to The Tilton School, which at that time was a weak school with no real competition for playing time. I am sure the Tilton School coach promised them the starting position and all the playing time. So this isn't the first time that they both have run from a coach who demands their players to earn their spot and run from true competition. They would much rather have a coach who will baby them, promise them court time, and not push them. In the end, they are the one's who will lose out.

AO Sr also says that UConn guards are "Ball Hugs".

Funny, when I had a cousin of Alex in school, he would routinely go down to games and the next day we'd talk about the game. First thing out of his mouth was always what a ball hog so and so was ( usually Dyson....please don't hijack this thread)
