i hope you had a lot of fun pressing the last 5 secs vs our walkons. what a bunh of jackasses. we could have easily ran the 2nd half up and down and tired your 4 and 1/2 players out and been up 35 points but we ran clock and slowed the game down. thats respect for another school, most schools most times do that and we did today. you were down 15-20 the whole game and lost by 14 with a couple of bs points to finish the game. instead of taking the last 20 secs like any other team in america and give us our respect back, you guys looked like a bunch of balloon knots. congrats sju you rejects, you stole the ball from a walkon and tried to get a and 1. i hope your couple nice dunks make you all jittery inside when your in the film room. next time your on the court with us JC will be back and he won't stand for that bs, your lucky DB is a nice calm guy. i hope we reck you guys in the future. i was sitting on the edge of my seat thinking if i was coach i would call timeout with .0000003 left on the clock and put my big guy back in and throw a lenght of the court alley hoop just to mkae you feel like shit becuase to me it feels like we owned you for 39 minutes and you still didn't learn your dam lesson.

I disagree. With 5 seconds left you let the team runout the clock and head for the buses. No need for any dumb injuries when the game is long over. I thought St. John's was bush league at the end of this game.

If I was coaching for UCONN I would have run them up and down the court rather than letting them rest by playing set offense. Too bad they are short handed. They need to recruit players that can qualify.
 
exactly^ if our walkons were in with 2mins left than yea play ball, but with 5 secs left and were up 16 come freaking on! thats horse crap.

Don't put in the walk ons until the other team does. St. J's didn't concede. Their coach was still teaching. That said, yeah they're jerks.
 
I can forgive SJU to a degree - since they are playing a bunch of frosh and are trying to instill a certain work ethic - don't quit, play hard to the end, don't take a possession off, etc. It sucks for the walk-ons to get the wrong game for a cameo.
 
Sounds like the OP had some money on the game. What was the spread?
 
The only logical explanation is that some of the Johnnies had money on the game...the spread was 14.

That was hilarious. I was sitting next to a kid who had bet Uconn. With less than a minute to go it looked like a sure thing. Then at the end it appeared that SJ's would cover. In the end a push.
 
You never see a Calhoun do something like that. They (St. Johns) had thier chance to play against the big boys and struggled with them. Show some class.
 
Actually, they didn't press UNTIL the walkons came in. The announcers (such as they were) even wondered aloud why they weren't pressing a few minutes earlier.
 
I was present and thought it was a little over the top, and ya, kinda classless of them. Felt sorta bad for the walk-ons. What a train wreck!

Agree that was pathetic. I was annoyed at it, but I was also thinking to myself, "Self, this is exactly why I would never bet actual money on sports". What was the spread for that game ? Whatever it was, the utlimate differential was significantly affected by the play of non-scholarship players in barely more than a minute of the game. Any of you people that bet on sports are OUT OF YOUR MINDS.

The spread was 14. So it was a push. Without that last burst from SJU UConn would have covered. They would have lost if that SJU player had hit at least 1 of his 2 free throws at the end.

I posted on Saturday thought it was classless by St.John's and I had no money on the game. I wa at the game and was yelling that it was wrong. Some fans thought I was wrong by thier reactions to me. Why didn't St. John's coach put in thier reserves in after Uconn cleared the bench. Don't give me that he was still teaching at that point. Was to have some of his kids pad their numbers?

We just pressed SHU's walk ons for the last minute and 15 seconds. Why didn't we give them their respect back!? I guess we are classless jackasses too......

yup i'm mad at it to. i'm mad we went to that level. but you, your ok with it?

i'm completely just disgusted with 2night thats why i'm just staying away from posting. from the 3rd minute until the end i was beside myself. i have never in my life seen a uconn basketball team purely out coached like that. DB was a idiot 2night from the first half no getting off his ass once to call to or do something, to the poor lineup changes at the wrong times to the tech that killed our run and so on. just a horrible night like ive never seen before. i'll leave it at that before i start to go nuts.

i don't like pressing walkons at any point unless its walkons vs walkons(fair game). if there in, its 4 a reason.
 
just realize i should prob sya this:

i left for my 845 mens bball game at the 10 min mark left in the 2nd half, the 40+ ppl in the chat can prove that a fact for ya, so i missed that part of the game. just checked scores as i could on the bb. that response up there is asuming you were correct. only 8 posts but you went after me on here? enjoy your night on the yard with babysheep and erivverie

Well....You may need to look up the definition of "walk on". SHU played 10 guys - all scholarship fellas.
