Do you remember him throwing lobs last year? I remember quite a few. Did he just become a worse "lob-thrower" or do you think our offensive spacing was not nearly as good? Was he a better shooter in 24?

Our offense was not nearly as good this year for a variety of reasons. Defenses played us a bit different and stayed home more. They knew we didn't have guys who could put the ball on the floor and guys who couldn't shoot. The Samson "lob game" in 24 was built because the opposing five had to come out and help on the guard. They didn't need to do that this year.
Our offense wasn’t good because we had few guys that could break down a defense off the dribble.

I love Hass for the record, but if you don’t think height helps on both side of the ball you’re kidding yourself. Yes smaller guards can be great if they have elite quickness/handle, but I’ll always take the bigger guard given they don’t come in with the handicaps.

This one is locked up for the good guys according to what I heard this morning. Great first portal add, likely will add 2 more.
Only two more? That would leave us 11 scholarship players. I would think we need at least one more PG or a CG who can bring the ball up and play defense, a stud PF, a backup center and possibly a wing?

Yeah, we have been at 12 scholarship players so I doubt we dipping below that. Also, this year you can have 15 scholarship players not that will have much impact. I think we add 4 too.

Yes one pretty good PG is great, but need another bench PG piece along the lines of Diarra definitely is a must.

Has this been posted? I don't see it. But let's get @jfuchs91 some subscribers and views, yeah?

Thanks for posting this, this is one of the best mix tapes I've seen for a kid to really get a sense for him. No stupid music and not just dunks and 3's, but 20 minutes of showing everything he can do.

He is crafty, quick, a finisher, and even if he only averaged 3 apg, apparently a good passer with decent vision. I think he can really thrive in our offense if he is able to learn it. And based off the lobs he was throwing as defenses collapsed on him, it's a shame he will not have played with Samson. He would have been a great piece this year.

If Jayden Aquaintance goes portal as expected. And Bobby /Danny can work it out. Might be a nice(long shot) addition for second half of the year- if he heals ok- for the 14th or 15th spot. He just turned 18 in July 2024.

Those off-ball actions they ran for Newton with the option to either catch and shoot or get to the paint off the bounce are going to be lethal with Demary. His efficiency is a little depressed because of the system UGA plays and how many lower percentage shots he took but I fully expect that efficiency will shoot up under Hurley.

He doesn't have a TON of high-level passing reads in his bag. Lobs, dump off, drive and kicks are there. He's certainly a very good passer. Just not GREAT the way a guy like Tristen was. There isn't the fluidity and timing in the PnR the best passers have. More mechanical. It will be interesting to see how our staff trains him up in the zoom and chin actions we love so much. I suspect we could get him to >4 assists next year simply because of our offensive structure.

Eras change - but not that much. It’s still basketball. We once had a big backcourt with Doron and Ray - but when we wanted to pick up the pace, Ricky came off the bench and Doron became the 2. We lost Ricky to injury and our offense became stuck in the mud against a physical team.

I’d still ideally like a Ricky or Hass as a bench piece as a change of pace. Quick, fast, passing point guard who is difficult to faze with ball pressure and get us into offense if we’re struggling. But that player will have some deficiencies in order to want to come off the bench - either height or shooting or both. A sort of a different type of Joey C from a mid major - a quick point instead of a gunslinger.

That could have been Nowell’s role - but I get him not wanting to stick around and be recruited over if he can maybe get more minutes somewhere else.

Watch that tape, Demary is plenty quick enough.
