Silas wasn’t playing at 100%, hits two late 3s and I looked back at the replay and it appears he was the one that tipped Boozer’s pass to set up the Mullins steal and game winner. Wanted to give Silas some love as well, since Mullins/Reed have been getting most of the credit.
 
it had to take everything he had to get up and deflect that pass on that bum ankle. His two threes were also huge.

I said it before the game when the Duke guy said that they were more connected than UConn. That this team plays for eachother. Silas missed that first free throw and the team was like no problem just make the next one.

The team being so together they lift one another Silas wanted to make a play for the team. They don’t want to let each other down.

Who knows how much pain and mobility challenges Silas had/has. But I will say this- He made multiple winning plays on both sides of the ball during the game and at crunch time. His two corner threes as game was winding down were huge momentum changers. Can't imagine how difficult those shots were with one good leg and the game on the line. Gutsy performance by him and his sidekick Malachi.

He's been underrated all year.

Our best defender at the PG spot in years, 2.6 A/TO ratio, 40% from deep, 46% from the field, 80% foul shooter. Played this tournament hobbled.

Him getting that steal and immediately running for the offensive board on a bum ankle showed some real heart.

He's posed for a AA season if he puts in a tough summer.
 
He is a hell of a defender. I lost count of the number of strips/steals/hustle plays/tips/etc. he got on the ball. The fact he is doing this not fully healthy is incredible. Offensively, I think he only made one mistake all night too.
 
The deflections, throwing your body into the bench to save a possession, the offensive rebounds by Solo. Jayden Ross getting back to force a steal on Foster. The hustle plays just continue to exemplify this team. We take pride in the muck and it separates us from other programs in March/April.
 
What I'm most impressed by with Silas playing key minutes without his full health- Is how his BBIQ on both sides of the ball allow him to make clutch plays. He doesn't have his normal explosion and footspeed and yet he continues to make winning plays. Braylon never gets his chance to close the deal without Demary's deflection to start the chain of events that lead to that shot. Can't wait for him to mess with Wagler on Illini. Hope his ankle continues to heal.

Silas is who gave the rest of them belief.
 
Silas deserves way more credit, wayyy more credit (I mean, nationally speaking and from the media. We already give him tons of love on the BY). Without his deflection, there is no shot.

But also, UConn won that as a team. All 5 players had a role in that 3. If one thing from any of those 5 is off, they don't win. Mullins 3 splashing through the net with that beautiful sound was the result of incredible decision making, not just from him (and his intial pass), but all five. Karaban showing so much trust towards his freshman teammate exemplifies this 2026 UConn team IMO.

(And I think even Ross' pressure on the inbound pass is underrated and wasn't that him, with Karaban, putting pressure on the initial pass that was kind of awkward from Duke, and I felt like that kind of put Duke out of sorts to begin with).

So true on Silas. We heard so much about Fosters injury but hardly anything on Silas. Let’s be honest a high ankle sprain in the regular season could potentially be as much time off as a break. I give both these guys a ton of credit but one was a factor and the other wasn’t in this game. It’s a bigger story on Silas than has been told. An absolute warrior!! Lucky to have him a Husky and lucky Danny and the staff were smart enough to add Malachi as well because we’re not here without both of these guys!
 
He's a tough kid with great hands. We will need his BEST defensive performance over the next two games because if he can lock down their best G, we have a really good chance of winning at the 1 spot and the 5 spot. I have never doubted Silas, he's got that Dawg in him

Ross's pressure then coming back to Evans on the inbound was critical. But even more critical, when we were starting to lose momentum late in the second and then lost the ball, his chasing down the fast break and hitting it off the knee of the Duke player was huge.

I like that he also drove the lane and went up and looked good doing so at one point. I think the ankle is healing up and should not be an issue at the F4. Hes my darkhorse pick for MOP.

Is there a % for how many times he slips and falls? It drives me crazy but I do love Demary.
