Shout out to Keelan Marion

KM was a hero for Miami with 2 receptions on the last drive on 3rd and longs. It's only fitting that a former husky is ripping out a fan bases heart. You put UConn on an equal level playing field we could be a CFP team.

I met Zegiotis's parents at this years bowl game in Fenway. They were extremely nice and still support the program. Just saying.
Oh no it was more in line with I backed out all of Edsall 2.0's last year.

I don't hate any player that leaves (and the timing of Marion's departure sure made sense for a talented player) but also find it difficult to root for someone who left us, for several reasons.

There's lots of examples of guys who stayed at less prominent schools, even FCS, for four years, and had great careers in the NFL so you don't need to leave UConn to make a pro career for yourself. We're not what we were when Marion left and the NFL will find you if you're good.

Having said that, the MS QB sure helped himself by leaving Ferris State, but we're not Ferris State and need to be seen as more of a destination, not simply a way station.

Now, when John Lista becomes a star in the NFL, I'll be happy to hear he's a UConn guy............forget his years at Penn.
Then there's the pounding a player takes (let's use MSU as an example) in the B1G every week. Did Cam and Ben make the right decisions? Will they hold up against a schedule with 8 or 10 tougher opponents than BC and Syracuse?

We'll see, but they're gone and I'm not going to watch their stats, wish they were here if we're struggling, and ask all the "what if's" as we play our schedule.

It is not good for the program. It means nothing for the program. He does not play for us. And celebrating being a minor league farm team for power 4 programs is just par for the course for the cope around here these days.
This is hilarious to me. In another thread somebody told me that rooting for a transfer is like rooting for an ex-girlfriend to find a new guy.

I guess it all comes down to mindset. Seeing Marion to me was a surprise, like seeing a familiar face you haven't seen in a while. I knew he was in Miami, saw him play in the past couple of rounds, but I was still like "Oh! Hey! It's Keelan Marion!" while watching the game.

sad KM is not a husky, but after what he went through in '21 and '22, i can't blame him for leaving.
I have to put myself in a kid's shoes.... I cannot argue with where he was last night. why the **** would I be mad at him for not sticking it out with UConn when what I saw him do last night, was a possibility...

also, his choices of quarterbacks included zergiotis, krajewski, phommachanh..... and Zion Turner... yeah, BYE UConn.

happy for him.
Hopefully we will have our day someday.
No question. I don't think anyone here is blaming him for leaving if I am not mistaken. They are expressing their thoughts about whether they can root for him. I doubt Keelan Marion has even thought about UConn or his time at UConn for 1 second this season and if I was in the same position as him I would not either.

After a player is gone I don't care if he plays well or not. I care about what they did here.

I also agree that I do not want former Huskies to be an advertisement for UConn as a glorified farm team.
Sorry Pal, but I actually do care and happen to love it when Sean McDonough makes mention when the player is a "former UConn, (BC or Syracuse) player that he's broadcasting about in their new spot (based on his New England roots and being a 'Cuse alum.) Anytime I can hear "UConn" on a broadcast I love it! "Touchdown NC St--Justin Joly. The former UConn star showed his catch radius on that high pass reception." "What a night for Keelan Marion, the former UConn and BYU transfer". I want more people hearing UConn's name on behalf of players performing well on football telecasts. In this Portal World the fact that UConn has some coveted players is a good thing.

This.

Not rooting for or against him, but his success does nothing for UConn just as it does nothing for BYU. It helps Miami, and I ain't a Miami fan. Just do not care.

Looked at his stats at UConn. Made the mistake of looking at the game log from 2021. Reminded of the 1-11 season w/ the only win being a 6 point victory over Yale. UConn has come a long way.
I remember being on a cross country flight and paying $9.99 for WiFi so I could watch what was likely their best chance to win that year. Couldn’t miss it
