So sorry to hear this. She had a great story, that of making a splash in college athletics after growing up on a reservation, a true role model. I hope she learns and grows from this.

What surprised me the most is that she made all star games averaging 6.6 ppg.

I posted this a couple of days ago, but decided to delete it. Too bad for Shoni. I always liked her.

.-.
I liked Jude a lot. Never quit kinda kid. Not as talented as Shoni, and a more likable kid too. She wrote a book a few years back, and does some good civic work.
I had a vague recollection that she worked or works for Nike, and I remembered correctly. She's helping them market a line that's inspired by/marketed to Native Americans.

.-.

Just watched a replay of the game - what a game! Drama from start to finish with Louisville shooting the lights out, Baylor coming back to take the lead with less than 10 seconds left and then Louisville pulling out the win. Loved every minute of it.

If true...while it is 'sad' [maybe more'disturbing'] for Shoni, let's keep in mind the victim here.

Unfortunately, she is not the first athlete that has come off the rails as their career wound down.

She was/is an ambassador for the Nike N7 line. They give a portion of the proceeds to charities. They have a younger sister Milan who I think is a senior at Cincinnati.

Didn't someone write a song about her..hey?
No idea. The last I remember of her was going to the bench in tears after picking up her 3rd foul against Bria early in the 2013 national title game. I think she was a freshman in that game.

I think bluedevil was referring to the Beatles song, "Hey Jude". You missed it.

The best women’s game I ever saw- last 5 minutes were absolutely electrifying!

i've been looking for details of the indictment; so far...no dice

As an indigenous person who grow up on a reservation, it was great to see Shoni and her sister play college basketball on television. We have so many talented athletes on reservations throughout the country, but it’s difficult to attract D1 attention for most of these athletes. Does Jaelyn Bates ring a bell for anyone?

I hope Shoni learns form this

Does this have something to do with Native Americans who grow up on the reservations having great difficulty adjusting to life off the rez? I seem to recall that her early home life was challenging as well. So very, very sad to see such a tremendously talented young person in this situation.
