Shocking result in Baylor game

In falling apart means they didn't finish strong. They won the past 6 b12 tourney championships and even without their best player they were expected to finish stronger. It's not like they lost by 2 either WVU was up 21 going into the fourth, it's just no excuse for that. And why do you keep bringing up Mizzou? This is post season tourney we're looking at and obviously SC picked up 3 top 25 wins after that lost and Mizzou also has a good RPI while WVU doesn't.

I know you'd like to wish that when you lose to Mizzou that it would just go away. But you LOST to them. Accept it. Records count for seedings too. You understand that, right? Or is it when USC loses it only counts when YOU want it to count.

You lost to Mizzo. Stop trying to bury your head in the sand and pretend it didn't happen.

Where are you ahead of them?

You shouldn't be ahead of them for a seeding.

And-- it's okay about wasting my time.

I guess you have too much time on your hands lol

Never said I wish we didn't lose to mizzou.... lol Mizzou isn't a bad team and finished top 3 in the SEC, so why be ashamed? Robin Pingeton is a great coach and they have Sophie Cunningham who was a McDAA. SC still won the regular season and tourney title and Baylor lost ..

Hey, SCpur, can you tell me among the fans boards for your team is there one that actually discusses WCBB other than game day threads ala Cockytalk?

Kim sounded like Coach P from Duke throwing her players under the bus instead of taking the blame for poor coaching in the post game presser. Geno is right, he does not have to coach effort, toughness and BB IQ...........WV just kicked there ass last night badly......

Have you listened to Duke's post game press conferences this season? I eagerly await your response.

Exactly. Mizzou has an RPI of #24. West Virginia has an RPI of #41. And, loss was at Mizzou, versus the loss to WVU on a neutral court.

It doesn't all come down to a strict RPI comparison (nothing in bracketology ever does). As I said before, West Virginia's win over Baylor was preceded by a blowout over Oklahoma and a win over Texas, both of which are more impressive than anything Missouri did beyond its SC win.

If SC's loss at Mizzou is mitigated by the fact that it was a true road game, then their loss at home to Tennessee must be judged more harshly as well.

Cockytalk isn't our biggest message board, Gamecock Central probably is. There are *some* WBB threads on there, too. There used to be a WBB-only message board called Danger Zone, but I think they went under.

But, on inspection of "our biggest", apparently Cockytalk is the only one that, however fitfully, is taking a serious interest in WCBB.

Nor does it come down to one team who put together one good weekend with 3 good basketball games. WVU had a losing record in the Big 12, and last week, wasn't even guaranteed a berth in the NCAA tourney. There's a reason they were the #6 seed in the Big 12 and have a #41 RPI; it's called body of work the entire season.

Maryland's RPI is #17 but the committee will regard them more highly than many of the teams ahead of them. Missouri's overall body of work is stronger than WVU's but not by a lot. And WVU finished the season on fire, which Mizzou didn't. At most Mizzou will be one seed line ahead of WVU.

There may be more WBB threads on CT, but I doubt it. GC has a premium board I'm not a member of, so I can't say, for sure. I'm not sure of the relevance, though.

JPM is proof you can teach an "old dog new tricks" and I am actually very happy for her and hope she continues as WCBB is better with a great Duke program....for all us to hate!

After all Muffet won't be around forever...:D

Sorry Triad, I couldn't resist the easy bucket...

And apologies to you too Dillon as I had to do the put back for 2 more points, it was a gimme.

37.9% 36.7% 69.6% FG% 3% FT% of WV. This was an ugly game where Mulkey could not adjust to pressure the guards and in the end the differential was mostly free throw differential.
Eerily similar to a loss in the NCAAs that shocked the world when Louisville went off from three and similarly held on in the end. Same issue - no in game adjustments on offense or defense to respond to what clearly wasn't working. At least this one came in the conference so maybe they get down to some work in the two weeks before the NCAAs.

That picture of Kimmie shows that she is telling her players to put their big girl panties on and punch them people in the mouth.

Does this make Baylor the 4th 1 seed? and move SC into the 3rd slot?
Personally I really think SC and ND should have to play each other.

According to Charlie Creme, it does. Baylor's loss moves them down to the 4th seed, and SC up to the 3rd seed. So, you get your wish.
If Baylor is in fact the 4th 1 seed, that may move them to the Stockton region, and to the same side of the bracket as UConn.

I guess you have too much time on your hands lol

Got to love someone like yourself who feels a need to tell others how much time they have on their hands. [ ] All because some of us think your Gamecocks don't deserve the 3rd number 1 seed.

Yet on sagarin they are 18 while Mizou is 36. So according to Sagarin maybe it was more than just 1 weekend?

Why should WVGA be ashamed? You and Southie "quote RPI." When I said USC should remain the 4th number 1 seed you didn't agree and are spouting RPI. Okay-- but imo Mizzou and WVGA are all but equal. Please tell me why I should use RPI instead of Sagarin? I basically refer to them as a wash. You and southie seem to want to put RPI on a pedestal. The NCAA doesn't use the RPI much from what I've heard. So why is it better than Sagarin? You seem to want to put a negative spin on Baylor's loss to WVGA -- while I say Mizzou IS WVGA.

And Baylor's losing their star player is more of an impact than USC losing Coates. You still have YOUR star player to settle the game down. Baylor didn't have their star. Losing your best player IS a bigger impact.

This is what the NCAA Tournament is for....to settle these "differences of opinions"! I really don't think it makes a bit of difference if you are seeded 1/2/3, or which region. If your aim is to get to the NCAA Championship Game, you have to win baby win. Home court/Neutral Court/Away Game, doesn't matter. Your season should have prepared you for all of these possibilities.
