The hedge fund owner of the Courant and the rest of Tribune has destroyed the newsroom. gtcam you should know this without having to be told. I get my Courant online with Sunday delivery. Amore does his best with too many bases to cover. None of the decline is due to the employees.

They’re also having some union issues and employees no longer willing to work for free as they’ve been asked.

Didn’t even bother to send a reporter. Generic AP story. Page 4 in the print edition. I get this program is way down but they are the paper of record in this state Gotta do better
The Courant, like most papers and other media, are losing subscribers and money. You can open up the Courant or the NY Times and see the same news...The Courant was a good paper when I delivered for them in the 1970s...

And I thought hedge funds people were smart… no one reads newspapers anymore (except the 3 we still get, when someone delivers).
True, I haven't read a newspaper here since 2016 when the Tampa Tribune was bought by the Tampa Bay Times. I read the TB Times once and I think the Daily Worker was to the right of it...

I don’t think I’ve been paid for overtime, ever.

I don’t understand the business model of the local newspaper taking a position on the political spectrum. I would not run a LOCAL newspaper with a left or right lean, the market for news is too small to alienate 1/2 my market.

As for the labor dispute, personally I would never spend anytime where labor and mgmt are having a open battle. I would move on immediately - I couldn’t be bothered with the nonsense that infiltrates such an environment. Everyone loses.
