Bazz is having a great year and has enough to be an NBA player and i see it as less than 50/50 that he returns. He could do pretty well in the draft, a Jason Kidd like guard. Boat as much as I like him does not have enough for the league at this point. Question, did Ray Allen have a better UCONN career than Bazz? i don't think so.

Oof. That's rough. Ray was 49-5 in the Big East in his career, won 3 regular season titles, had 36 in a regional final, was second in the NPOY vote, ran away with the Big East POY. There is a lot on his résumé.

Bazz is outside the top 10, but ahead of very good role players like Rashad and Freeman.

To make a case for being on the bench of the all time team, he'd need to come back, be better than this year, and lead the team to the E8. Even then...Ray Allen had a better career, Rip, KEA, Kemba, Emeka, Ben, and others.

Right now he's ahead of Marcus Williams and has a chance to pass his current Coach on the list of all-time UConn PG's. No chance at cracking the all time top ten which in some order are:

Ray
Emeka
Caron
Kemba
Ben
Rip
Donyell
Cliffy
Corny
Nadav

To say that Nadav was better in one year than Shabazz has been over three years is kind of foolish. Nadav was pretty good. Shabazz is a bona fide star and has a national championship in which he played an important role.

Nadav changed the program and was an All-American. Bazz as good as he's been this year is replacable by a number of former Huskies.

Bazz has made a tremendous leap this year (he wasn't good last year) in his decision making and leadership. Those wondering what might been had AO stayed should think about that. He can still leave a real legacy if he stays and improves next year. Short of a Kemba like run, he's not top ten.

Nadav had one excellent season but wasn't an all american. Name ONE UConn guard who avereaged as many points, rebounds, assists and steals as Shabazz has this season. I don't think there has been one. The kid has been that good averaging 16.7 points 4.7 assists 4.1 rebounds and 2 steals this season.

His coming back, where others jumped like rats off a sinking ship ... THAT put him on my list of all-time favorite Huskies. But he'll have to do what he did in OT yesterday, far more often, in order to crack the list of all time greats.

He's got the potential.

He's got a long way to go to top that list, but if you asked me two years ago, I thought he'd be more likely to be next to Rashad Anderson and Kevin Freeman (players who I love) than in potentially with Gordon and El-Amin.

That said, he's gotta have a deep run as the best player to vault himself high (he's still behind Gordon and KEA and others).

Lot's of people have, and lots of people will find reason to again. No player is perfect. Last year, Shabazz had a number of bad games--there's nothing wrong with noting that. Kemba had a series of terrible games his sophomore year as well.

If the Boneyard had stayed in one place, you'd be able to go back and read how terrible Rip, Caron, Ben, Emeka, Rudy, AJP, Adrien, and others were. That doesn't mean they weren't having bad streaks, it just means the board is short sighted and tends to overreact.

Fantasy basketball. Watch the tape. He can shoot, very well and throws a good alley-oop. Can he hit shots in traffic, create his own shot, dribble, run the break, drive to the hole, beat a double team, penetrate and dish like an NBA PG or as well as Kemba, AJ, Marcus, Ollie, Doron?

He's having a great year, improved more than could have been expected if you read all the thread killing him last year, and is the prime reason this god awful season has been a pleasure to watch.

He's the best player on a round of 64/32 tourney team and has some intangibles but let's be a little realistic. Few 6' point guards make it. He will be remembered fondly for his time here and have a shot to make an NBA roster.
