Last night was UConn's big annual fundraiser which is an overnight dance marathon to raise money for the CT Children's Medical Center. It was real special to see Shabazz stop in early in the night, especially coming off a career game and it couldn't have been more than an hour or two after the bus got back to campus. He spent his whole time there taking pictures and playing basketball with kids from the hospital, you could tell it made their night since a lot of them couldn't stay too late. Niels and Olander joined him as well.

The guy is a true class act and it's been amazing to see him become a Kemba-type figure on campus, obviously he does it in a slightly different way but the similarities are astounding.

It just makes me like him more. He's exactly what UConn needed so we wouldn't fall off the map like many people wanted us to.

Thanks for the story, senior night will be a tough one this year.

Got a pic with him. Tolksdorf was there too. They had a big crowd watching them play with a few of the miracle kids. And those kids were loving it.

Undoubted husky of honor. It would be criminal for him not to make it.

It'd be great if they could reveal it on Senior Night. I think the standard is first team All American --which he will be.

Glad its sideways, don't want the ladies to appear almost the same size as our AA.
And, sideways it looks as though Bazz is lying down with two cute coeds.

(No offense uconndad).

I was participating in HuskyTHON and Bazz and Niels were playing ball with my miracle child. He was in a wheelchair so he could not shoot the ball but he loved giving out assists. At one point he kept passing the ball to Bazz who went on to hit 7 threes in a row. I cannot describe the joy that our child had on his face. Truly a touching moment.

He is so little. Was at the Calhoun walk thing at the Rent last year and the team was standing all around. Didn't notice Shabazz was right next to me because he seemed the height of a child. Boat comes over going "bazz, bazz" and then he turned around and it shocked the hell out of me. For reference I'm more of a traditional NBA guard sized 6'4" (with the handles of a freshman Hasheem Thabeet). He seemed TINY, makes him that much more of a legend to me

Bazz is BIG when it counts.

He seems to be a good guy and has taken his leadership to heart. Kemba passed it to him. Who will he pass it to?

My guess, Rodney Purvis. He seems to have the right personality to be the leader and the public figure of the team for as long as he's here.
