I wouldn't take Brimah before the 2nd round at this point. He's the worst 7 ft rebounder I think I've seen. He needs to score more from 15 ft and in. He can't handle contact at all. He needs to step away from the hoop and shoot over people. You are radically underestimating the value of an athletic 7 footer.
I hope the lack of going after several 2s and 5s is a statement that KO feels good about Diallo & Brown
Really dumb statement by Borges, Power-5 or not we are way ahead of Maryland in accomplishments and prestige.I don't agree with Borges's grouping:
Power-five or not, we're closer to Maryland in terms of prestige (I'd say above them, but certainly not "out of its league") than to Providence.
And it's worth noting that 1) he lacks the lateral quickness to guard on the perimeter like Deandre did, and 2) he's got a big ole' butt, which will be great for carving out rebounding position underneath, as well as moving guys off the block defensively. He's in the media guide at 245. He'll play plenty of minutes at the pivot.

I watch a lot of NBA, more so than college ball outside of UConn. With that said, I honestly do not think Brimah has what it takes to play in the NBA. He is an shot-blocking specialist and that's about it. Team aren't going to use a roster spot on a guy who is physically weak, barely averaged 5 rebounds a game against college competition, doesn't really have any 1-on-1 moves or a general offensive game. He is a liability at the NBA level when he is on the court outside of his shot blocking, and with the trend towards small ball he is even less coveted. Guys like Gorgui Deing are the exception not the rule, plus Deing is physically built and can actually rebound.
I would be SHOCKED if Amidah wasn't a 4 year player and I'd be just as surprised to see him go in the first round. I could see someone using a second rounder on him just because he's 7 feet tall though, but he likely wouldn't see the court.

That is a fair point as it relates to the WG thread. My bad and I won't address that issue anymore.Sorry to continue this hijacking of the Gabriel thread, but:
I'm willing to bet he vastly improves in all areas this year. If he needs to take a 4th year, even better for him playing in the NBA. Time to get a little bulk, work on a few offensive moves. Somebody is going to take a chance on a very athletic 7 footer in the draft - and one of the best shot blockers in the nation. I think Amida has a nice touch with the ball and once he gets more comfortable making moves to get his shot off, it will look very nice. Could be for us, could develop in the NBA. I think he's a beast.
You and @HuskyCLT, this was seriously impressive. I don't think I've ever seen a tangent like this end in anything less than 40 pages of unrelated arguments but this one was addressed and shut down immediately. Good work! That is a fair point as it relates to the WG thread. My bad and I won't address that issue anymore.
I agree.Enoch is 6'10 with a wingspan of over 7ft, also looks to be at least 230lbs, he can play C
Yup. Looks like they're putting on the full press.Apparently, Duke will be up at W&M on Tuesday to see Gabriel. Seems like they aren't slowing down their pursuit.
I'm pretty sure that was your shortest post ever. You feeling OK?I agree.

I know his height Ace, and I know he likes playing outside a bit. Do you have a reason other than his height that makes you say that? PN is tall too.

And Nolan has played almost exclusively at center for us. What's your point?
I only saw Enoch a few times last season at STM, but I don't think I ever saw him playing anywhere but center.
Meh. I like our roster just fine compared to that, as long as we add a couple of shooters.View attachment 10661 Just saying, if Dook gets this class... Everyone should quit... I mean holy...
Ace gave you height, weight and wingspan - three areas that factor into where he will likely play. Not sure why you chose to focus solely on height. My point, Bruce, is that I would not want Nolan to be our starting center and maybe height alone does not make a center. I thought that was pretty obvious.
I like our roster too. That being said, K coaching that incoming squad of freshman, plus whatever they have coming back, would be ridiculous. There's no way they'd all stay committed, but it's just crazy to think about...Meh. I like our roster just fine compared to that, as long as we add a couple of shooters.
