I actually think this meteoric rise may be good for us in getting Wenyen. Before Duke and UK got involved it was us along with a plethora of other good programs that get mainly 3-4 year guys. Yet now that his list is down to 5, two of which are Duke and UK, we stand out as his true best option in terms of developing his talent. His meteoric rise is probably a surprise to himself as well, I'm sure WG didn't see himself as a one-and-done NBA player one year ago when coaches just started recruiting him, and for that reason I don't think he goes to the two programs who have shown they are now fully committed to the OAD game.
Hopefully he realizes that if he goes there, he will not play and develop like he needs to if he actually wants to play in the league. If he is mesmerized by the bright lights and attention, then I am willing to make a wager that he doesn't finish his college career there. He'd just be the next Wiltjer or Sulaimon, a talented player that simply needed some time to grow but his coach had other plans.
