Ah,the Boneyard. We beat Seton Hall and now Samson is a an NBA player. If Samson continues the way he has played these last 2 games his stock will rise. Imo, if he gets drafted NBA game is more suitable for him. He was known comming out of HS as a shooter that we have not seen here at UConn. We might see it in the tourney though. Hmmm?
I did not say that. Lol. If he continues to play the the way the last 2 games and we go deep in the tourney. Look at Tate George and what that did for him.Ah,the Boneyard. We beat Seton Hall and now Samson is a an NBA player.
"Affect" is correct... What point were you trying to make with that?Do you think wearing UConn gear effect or in your case affect the outcome of the basketball game?
Affect" is usually a verb that means "to influence" or "to impact", while "effect" is usually a noun that means "the result" or "the consequence"."Affect" is correct... What point were you trying to make with that?
I know.Affect" is usually a verb that means "to influence" or "to impact", while "effect" is usually a noun that means "the result" or "the consequence".
What I saw was that he ran out and did not put his hands up and the guy drained the three. Horrible defense. There was a play today in the first half when Ross went out on a 3 point Hall shooter in the corner and instead of jumping and fouling he put his arm up and let the Hall player shoot. That is a huge improvement in situational awareness. Saw this from other players as well. We have a small window to win games vs top level teams and not giving away points will give us a chance to survive and advance.
No. He did not jump up on the close out and wind up landing near the shooter and giving them 3 foul shots. He was too far away to block the shot and knew it. This is an improvement for him and us.So it’s ok to give someone a wide open shot ? I coached high school for 11 years and been a basketball junkie since the 60’s and I never knew that.
When did Marquette become a bottom feeder?Great games from Solo, Karaban, and HAPPY SENIOR NIGHT TO SAMSON JOHNSON! I’d say he’s just put together 2 of the best games of his career these last two games
Solid games off the bench from Stewart, Mahaney, and Tarris as well. Loved seeing those threes go in for Aidan
Can’t overreact on these last two games because they’ve been against BE bottomfeeders, but we’ve been looking pretty good the last week
On to March, let’s go Huskies!
When did Marquette become a bottom feeder?
He went for the blocked shot and left his man wide open because he didn’t calculate the ball would be tipped to his player. Typically he would have run recklessly towards the shooter and fouled. The alternative was to avoid this. What I saw was that he ran out and did not put his hands up and the guy drained the three. Horrible defense.
For some reason I thought it was MU, PC, then Seton Hall lol. Oops! When did Marquette become a bottom feeder?
It was, and credit to Jayden for making the pass, but if Liam hadn't made a great cut to bail him out, it would have been a bonehead play by Jayden where he drove recklessly with no idea what he was going to do and turned the ball over. I really like his energy, but he needs to figure out how to channel it better.Love that no one is talking about his drive towards the basket and feeding a cutting Liam for a basket. That was a heads up play.
Do you think that cut by Liam wasn’t planned? It’s fairly clear Ross knows that there will be a cutter into the lane as part of the movement of that play. You honestly think Jayden made that drive knowing Liam was going to cut to the basket when he did? If that was the case, great, but it looked to me like Jayden was out of control and got bailed out. Regardless, why do you need to make it into a personal attack on my hoops fandom? Be a better human being.Do you think that cut by Liam wasn’t planned? I'm thrilled that he made other good plays, but it's hilarious that you think that that was a good defensive play when it resulted in a made uncontested three. He went for the blocked shot and left his man wide open because he didn’t calculate the ball would be tipped to his player. Typically he would have run recklessly towards the shooter and fouled. The alternative was to avoid this.

There is precisely zero chance that was a set play. Hurley is not teaching his guys to drive into a baseline double team. Clearly the team, like any team, is taught in that situation to try to find and opening and cut to the basket. Liam did a good job to recognize that and make himself available and Ross made a nice pass but it was definitely overcoming a bad decision. But that also happens in games and it was good to see Ross able to overcome that bad decision and still make a good play.Do you think that cut by Liam wasn’t planned? It’s fairly clear Ross knows that there will be a cutter into the lane as part of the movement of that play. Be a better hoops fan
“(Berating) a kid on social media, any of our players,” Hurley said. “The degenerate gamblers that lose are always going to be on there doing their deal and opposing fans always want to take their shots at UConn.Hurley made it perfectly clear that social media attacks on players don't help the players. He doesn't care when clueless wonders try to give him advice, but the kids can be negatively impacted. They're still kids.
So while you may not think hurtful words are hurting the kids, Dan Hurley does. For me, it's only common sense, like raising a kid. You try to instill confidence in them, not attack them with uninformed and silly takes. Once again, I agree with coach.
Not sure about seeing him as a shooter in the NCAA tourney. A little too late for that but like Lively he just needs to be active near the hoops with NBA athleticism and not show lack of strength by moving his feet which he has done better this year on D.If Samson continues the way he has played these last 2 games his stock will rise. Imo, if he gets drafted NBA game is more suitable for him. He was known comming out of HS as a shooter that we have not seen here at UConn. We might see it in the tourney though. Hmmm?
We just played Marquette on Wednesday. They are far from a bottom feeder.Great games from Solo, Karaban, and HAPPY SENIOR NIGHT TO SAMSON JOHNSON! I’d say he’s just put together 2 of the best games of his career these last two games

Ah, RuffRuff, turning a multi-speculative post that ended with, "Hmmm?" into hard math when nobody but him added it up that way.Ah,the Boneyard. We beat Seton Hall and now Samson is a an NBA player.
Fishy, have you ever coached? The proper way to close out on a jump shooter is to take smaller steps the closer you get to him and put the opposite hand of the way he shoots in his face, it is basketball 101. In the play in question, Ross took large steps towards to the shooter and barely raised his hands up above his waist, on top of that he was out of position. It was poor defense. Maybe you could attend a coaching clinic to learn about basketball. And I suggest you ask my fellow coaches and the players that played for me before you attempt to judge what kind of coach I was. The poster implied that it was a smart play by Ross. I just pointed out 3 things he did wrong.Do you teach players to tackle the shooter?
Either you’re a horrible coach or you’re not a strong reader because that’s not what the dude wrote.
Did I say that? They’re 4-6 in last 10 and haven’t won a meaningful game since first week of Jan, around same time jones got the yips.We just played Marquette on Wednesday. They are far from a bottom feeder.
If Samson fires of his first 3 pointer of the season in the postseason, something has gone very wrong. Also, love what he has been for this program but he is a LONG way from an NBA player (he’ll definitely make some money playing ball somewhere though). If Samson continues the way he has played these last 2 games his stock will rise. Imo, if he gets drafted NBA game is more suitable for him. He was known comming out of HS as a shooter that we have not seen here at UConn. We might see it in the tourney though. Hmmm?
