Seth Greenberg on UConn & the Big East

I don’t know why ESPN would support him chasing us to the Big East. That’s weird.

Seth knows less about basketball than self promotion. And I believe he is a Syrexcuse guy

I think that's pretty well documented. It's obviously best to be in a P5 all-sports league. That being said, what's the second best option? Right now, UConn is gambling is the future of its basketball program(s) by maintaining football and hoping to get into a P5. Unfortunately, UConn has no control over that. What is the breaking point? When do they cut their losses, throw football overboard, and save basketball? One thing's for certain - staying indefinitely in the AAC with mediocre basketball and bad football is the absolute worst option.
NEWSFLASH: AAC Football is on par, if not better than, the old Big East.

THIS JUST IN: AAC Basketball struggles because gold standard programs have not performed. Uconn as much to blame for poor basketball in this conference as this conference is to blame for poor Uconn basketball.

But it is scaring me. Their bots Don't push narratives this hard with out instruction and purpose. Got to...not back, but to...the Big East would kill our programs. The old days are gone. Playing under that name won't bring them back.

WRONG! Seth's ignorance is only overshadowed by his enormous head. UCONN is not the problem. AAC is not the problem. Our players are not the problem. Leadership is the problem. I love KO because he played when I was at UCONN, because JC anointed him as his successor, because he won a National Championship for us in a magical way, and because he seems like a great guy. However, I love winning more. We need a new leader.

This is what's going to happen: we are not making the NCAA this year and AD Dave will fire KO. The replacement guy will get us back on top in a few years. With that, the stain of Big Warde will be gone. So mote it be.

.-.
This board is legit a bunch of betas. How do you fools defend the AAC? Nobody respects it. Nobody.
beta? Like the fish? 2nd letter of the Greek Alphabet? huh?

I think it is more about being in denial. Uconn is stuck in the aac so people TRY (boy do they ever) to make the most of it and not admit that, well, this is not quite the old big east...to say the least.

So Cinci, Temple, Memphis and WSU aren’t basketball schools? Houston has done more in basketball than 3/4 of the NBE. SMU built a program that has won ever year since this league existed. UCF just beat a ranked Alabama.

It’s a bunch of nonsense. With WSU in the fold, the differences in level of play are minor. The geography favors the Big East a bit, but not all that much beyond PC and St John’s.

WHAT???? lol do you really think the conferences are even close?

What geographic footprint? We have schools from all over and we have recruits from all over. We don't fit the profile of the New Big East at all. We would be the only public school in the NBE, have far and away the largest enrollment, only school that isn't currently religiously-affiliated other than Butler which historically was. UConn needs to be where the biggest payout is, unless it's the ACC v B1G at which point other factors can be debated.
We were the only full public in the original Big East. Pitt was a public/private hybrid and everybody else was private.

Because the new Big East is such a powerhouse. Teams like Nova and......
Seriously? The Big East got seven teams in the tournament last year, have a better RPI than half the P5 leagues, and are respected by the NCAA committee. The American will NEVER be able to say any of those things.

FIFY

And what are the things a UConn fan can do to make that happen if s/he is so inclined?
Well we all tried bitchin and moaning, perhaps doing that got us to Seth.

Make a gofundme account for the AAC exit fee.

UConn today is not even close to what UConn was back then thankfully

Which has nothing to do with it being a public school and the rest being (good) privates.

Greenberg was ur number 9 hitter 5 years ago in CBB on ESPN and now all of a sudden he is being thrust into the limelight....

It just hit me why Greenberg might have been talking about this: Disney just bought FOX regional sports networks today.

Or he has no idea that Disney just bought Fox regional networks, but he can see that our once-dominant basketball program has turned into a pile of garbage in a conference no one ever wanted to see created.

You know, one or the other.

I'll take either. I'm scared the Big East may begin to think they would be better off without us.

Vitale brought it up too. ESPN was behind their comments.

Jesus.

Why would they care?

UConn to the Big East is a pure negative to ESPN to the extent that we still matter.
How do you know that they aren't angling to purchase the Big East if we are in it?
Dude, it was odd. Greenberg mentioned it two separate times, and Vital probably spent 10 minutes talking about it.

Like that will change the direction of our program. We still have issues with the coach that hast to be rectified first before we move ahead no matter the conference. I mean we can't even finish in the top 3 of the AAC except for 1 year.

Dude, Ollie is gone after this year. The idea we can't get a good coach, especially in the Big East is hilarious. I mean Larry Brown went to SMU.

Hey you are barking up the wrong tree. It is stairmasters who thinks we can't get a good coach due to the economic state of CT and Ollie's big contract. I think DB will make the move at the end of the year and we will be fine. I mean maybe not the UCONN of old but at least close to a Gonzaga level of challenging top teams year in and year out.

Just don't forget that the old Big East screwed schools like UConn and others by keeping Penn St out and giving away Va Tech, Miami, and BC for nothing. All blame goes to the idiots that ran the Big East then IMHO.

I will throw this out for you all basketball only fans. If the NBA goes to a minor league system and starts taking high school players then what?

All of the college sports will be screwed anyway at that point. Football is already in huge trouble across the country as it is.
