Serah Williams to LSU?

That Williams is Mikaylah Williams with the name clearly spelled out!
You missed the original ESPN article.

The original ESPN article indicated in one paragraph that Fulwiley would be playing with Mikayla Williams. But in the last paragraph it indicated that Fulwiley was the 4th inbound transfer joining Koval, Joiner & Serah Williams.

The mention of Serah Williams transferring to LSU was a mistake that was subsequently corrected by ESPN, eliminating the reference to Serah Williams transferring to LSU.

Geno would have gladly coached "super big" basketball if the majority of bigs he recruited chose UConn..........unfortunately many didn't.....
Geno can win championships with any kind of lineup. He won his first with 2 AA post players: Rebecca & Kara. He won two with a massive frontcourt that included Steph, Stewie & Tuck, with Kiah Stokes coming off the bench.

He’s also won championships with guard heavy lineups like this year or going back aways with Sveta, Shea & Sue.

With the guards/wings that UConn had last year, it is a given that most of the plays/time would be run through them and it did not leave much for Ice/Jana and they need reps to show they can be better. I am confident that Ice/Jana would show how much better they can be in a more balanced rotation.

Can you guys READ? This article never mentions Serah Williams,. Here is what was said: "
Fulwiley now joins a guard-heavy LSU squad headlined by Mikaylah Williams and Flau'jae Johnson, but she should be able to carve out a similar role with the Tigers, perhaps with more playing time.

LSU lost five players in the transfer portal, and between the portal and exhausted eligibility, it lost all five of its forwards and centers. Fulwiley is LSU's THIRD addition from the portal, joining Kate Koval and Amiya Joyner.
"
Article originally had Serah Williams listed and then was edited and took her name out.
So yes, I can I read and so can the countless others who read the article before it was updated.
Read further down the thread after the post you quoted.

Look back at the rosters from the last back-to-back championships and those rosters were pretty big in terms of who was getting the most playing time. He’s done it before and I’m sure that he wouldn’t mind having that option available again, in addition to playing small ball.

Right, you are and just imagine if A'ja Wilson, Charlie Collier and Aaliyah Boston all ended up at UConn......I think Geno would be up to at least 15 National Championships by now......

the original article had Serah Williams between Koval and Joyner and said FOUR transfers. They later corrected their mistake.

This is fair to say. But it is at best a speculative argument for a supposed necessity. Other sources to replace Paige’s production are already in place, and my saying so is equally speculative.

I don’t want to fuss about the distinction between a need and a nice addition, since all of us agree that we’d like to see Serah come to Storrs. We can all guess at ways Serah might contribute, just as we might for Blanca or Caroline or Ayanna. And I’m sure some of us think Serah’s record makes her seem more likely to contribute. But none of this amounts to a necessity.
Agreed! Serah would definitely be a welcome addition and would most likely make a successful defense of our title easier than if we had to do it without her. However, should she choose a different school, I am confident that we have everything we need in order to win #13. I hope she comes to UConn, I believe it to be her best choice in terms of title chances and long term benefits and success in the future, but Bone Dog is correct, she is a player who will undoubtedly make us better, she will make it easier, but she is not the deciding factor as to whether we can repeat. That question imo is already answered. We have the talent now.

Wishing and hoping here.

If UConn was able to get Serah it would give them a “super big” option with Jana at the 5, Serah at the 4, Sarah at the 3, Azzi at the 2 and KK at the 1. Geno could do damage with that lineup.
Correct. Serah gives Geno a few more options in the post and different lineups depending on opponent, without worrying as much about foul trouble at the 5 position. This addition helps make the team more bullet proof sort of speak. This is the type of strategy Hurley on the mens side speaks to.

Also Imagine, Elena DD staying, A Stevens staying another year, Megan Walker staying another year, Paige not getting hurt, Azzi not getting hurt, Griffin not getting hurt, Caroline not getting hurt....Noodle on that, its quite amazing what could've been

Shea not getting hurt twice, Nykesha not getting hurt, Svet not getting hurt, Sue not getting hurt, Kalana and Mel not getting hurt. 4 or 5 more rings for Geno.

From the original ESPN article. before you accuse people of not being able to read, you might read the whole thread to find out. IMG_1761.jpeg

I follow Serah on Instagram and there’s no announcement
Good to hear, as I just viewed a YouTube vid extolling UConn's "genius" in recruiting Serah. Why do this if there wasn't even an inkling that Ms. Willliams wasn't headed to Storrs?
IMO, we're going to get Serah. Was that a tree limb I heard cracking? Hope not.

Geno doesn't coach super big basketball so even if they have the capacity I wouldn't expect to see it on the floor. He is guard and guard like player coach and he is extremely good at that type of lineup. He isn't going to change now and quite frankly he shouldn't. No team has beaten UConn because they lacked height and when you look at the great bigs of WCBB you will learn all of them combined didn't win half what UConn and Geno have won.
Not so very long ago, Geno employed the twin towers approach with Dolson and Stokes.

Jerzy Robinson 2026 recruiting thread post by SluConn shows Geno in Phoenix attending EYBL this weekend. If he is there it is unlikely that Serah is visiting UConn this weekend.
I believe she is expected to visit early next week. So Monday, Tuesday? Who knows

Tony, who's to say that players all left their teams because of playing time ... (Serah) can play the four or the five and offers the consistent offense, defense and rebounding that UConn has not been getting from Ice or Jana.....a front court of Sarah, Serah and Blanca would be quite something to watch.......
i'm not targeting you, charlie, but am puzzled by repeated comments by many who apparently totally ignored ice and jana's perfomances in the great 8 and beyond. they weren't scorers, for sure, (maybe paige sarah azzi kaitlyn's outputs offset that) but ice and jana gave the team just what was needed -- good play off the glass and some outstanding defense against the 'terrifying' bigs who surely were gonna doom uconn's hopes beyond the elite 8. .... ha ha ha to all those scaredy cats. it's past time that you give some respect to our 'bigs.' serah probably would fit in well for a year.

I've been very supportive of both Ice and Jana during the season as you would see if you went back and checked my posts from that time......I'd like to think that they will both show major improvement in their play next season........that said when the opportunity arises to attain a proven 6'4" 4/5 with really solid offensive and defensive skills you grab her........if Serah does choose UConn I can see a rotating front line of Sarah, Serah, Jana, Blanca, and hopefully Caroline and Ayanna too........that's a lot of size and talent that will be needed next season against the likes of South Carolina and others......

I agree with almost everything you say here. I’d only change the bold phrase from “will be needed” to “will come in very handy,” or even “will make the task a lot easier” next season.

I had heard something about the visit being the begining of this coming week.

I think you put a good perspective on this debate. I think some here automatically react negatively to anything suggesting we need to replace, or upgrade, or recruit over an existing player. When you have a championship contender pretty much every player in the rotation is above average, at least by division 1 standards, and that includes Ice, and Jana, but the standards at Uconn and our most serious challengers are very high.

If you are going for a championship pretty good may be a relative weakness compared to the other great teams, and going from pretty good to great might be the difference maker. If Ice and Jana are say a 7 and Serah would be a 9 or 10 then going after her is a no brainer IMO. Remember some of the bigs Uconn has had coming off the bench at least for a year or two, KIa Stokes, Pheesa, Azura, Gabby etc.

Pretty good as a starter on a contender is a relative weakness, and pretty good off the bench is just passable not a plus for a contender. We all have our visions of what would be ideal. Mine is Williams starting at the 5, and with Sarah consuming 60 of the 80 minutes upfront, Blanca being a star in her first year at the 3, and KK being the worst of our 5 starters, but still quite good. Then hoping that among the many candidates a few join Ashlynn as star level bench players.
