Nobody could or can replace Paige! Kayleigh would be a nice addition regardless.
I look at Kayleigh as more of a replacement for Kaitlyn Chen. A good in and out with KK/Ash.

Whoa! Talk about a big line-up...

Serah Williams - (6'4") - 5; (off the bench; Jana El-Alfy, 6'5"; Gandy Malou Mamel, 6'6")
Blanca Quinonez - (6'2") - 4; (off the bench; Ice Brady, 6'3", Ayanna Patterson, 6'2")
Sarah Strong (6'2") - 3; (off the bench; Caroline Ducharme, 6'2")
Azzi Fudd (5'11") - 2; (off the bench; Ashlyn Shade, 5'10", Allie Ziebell, 6'0")
Morgan Cheli - (6'2") - 1. (off the bench KK Arnold, 5'9", Kelis Fisher, 5'9", and possibly Kaitlyn Haeckle, 5'9")
OMG the hight at the 3, 4, 5 positions. We finally got taller ;-)

I have watched a few of her videos on this thread and she will be a tremendous fit as a Husky. A few of the reasons:

She already does the Husky acknowledgement pointing to the passer ;
She runs the floor and much like "sister Sarah" gets the long pass as SS got from PB or Chen ;
No tats (a personal indication to me of CLASS);
She can shoot from outside the paint, even from beyond the arc;
She is more concerned about her long term development and team over individual goals than any short term (can you say money) gains;
She must value becoming part of the incredible group of Husky alums;
She is smart enough to know the path to being a National Champion.

If I were Geno -- don't worry, I know I'm not -- I'd have said to Serah that part of her responsibility next season will be to mentor Jana, Ice and Gandy. Maybe even have as an expectation that the big girls have their own regularly scheduled 3v3 game. No littles allowed.

Of course, this is also probably the reason I'm not the greatest coach of all time.
At 6'2", Sarah dominated at 5 when she played there, so she's a big, Blanca also 6'2", is she as strong inside as out, can she get there?

I know this thread is to celebrate the arrival of Serah, but I think that she will help Jana big time. I think Jana will benefit by not having to be the primary big for opponents to focus on and will develop nicely next season.
Swerve over.

Is Kayleigh following the rest of the Huskies?
I'm not very good at social media, but my 16-year-old son/live-in IT consultant tells me that it looks like Kayleigh's following Allie, Sarah S., Serah W., Morgan, Caroline, KK, and Azzi—and also Morgan Valley, Kaitlyn, Paige, Sue Bird, Bria Hartley, and Jayden Ross and Solo Ball on the men's team.

Absolutely worth the wait.......Thrilled to be wrong again!! Contrary to public opinion, I think this will be great for the long-term growth of Jana, Ice and Gandy....
I don't think public opinion was against Serah coming. Some are against Heckel coming.

Just read this sentence from another article. Implies that there are expectations for Heckel as well:

"UConn coach Geno Auriemma has made it known that two players have officially visited and will most likely commit to the Huskies. One such player is Serah Williams, a former Wisconsin forward who averaged 19.2 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game in the 2024–2025 season."

Perhaps we get a Kayleigh commitment post tomorrow so Serah gets her shine today. Nice of them to take turns! ;)

Geno is such a closer, I feel like once a recruit visits Storrs it's over. Serah made a very smart decision for her future and her talents will be on full display. Now Jana and the others can develop in their own time. This is also one of the few non-graduating transfer that UConn has accepted in these years.
What do you mean about non-graduating transfers? She is a senior.

For those tea leaf-readers among us, Kayleigh Heckel liked Serah's commitment post on Instagram. That was nice of her. :)
I'm glad you put that out there, because I drank my tea leaves when I saw that Serah Williams committed to the Basketball Capitol of the UNIVERSE!!! :cool::):cool:

"So you are saying that there's a (great) chance!"

Go Huskies!!!
