UConn posted that senior night is the game versus Creighton. That airs on CBSSN, not SNY. Hopefully the Huskies livestream it. Anyone heard anything about live-streaming plans? I hate to miss any “announcements” live.

Interesting. The schedule currently stated that the Marquette game, the last regular season game, was Senior Day. This broadcast also is not on SNY but is on FS1 so the same question about the ceremony being broadcasted was there. So nothing has changed :(.

The above got me confused
And to add to the confusion, on the Hulu Live TV guide for February 27, the UConn game is currently not listed because the Concafa World Cup qualifier is on at 8PM.
Their future TV guides have been wrong before tho.

Wouldn’t it just be fantastic to see an all Senior starting lineup of Kaitlin, Paige, Azzi, Audrey and Carol?!
Azzi got her degree last year and I would assume she would participate in senior night. However, has she given any indication that she'll be back next year? She does have a red shirt year left.

My post really had nothing to do with Azzi and everything to do with Carol. Sorry if I didn’t make that more obvious.

Early in the season, Azzi (my local girl) said she is leaning toward coming back. She is in her first year of a 2-year Masters program. She got her Bachelors degree last May.

That's good news. I vaguely recall her saying that there was no point in coming back because there was nothing left for her to do, but your post would lead me to believe that at least a possibility exists otherwise.

Your local girl is a smart girl. I was under the impression that she is not coming back. I'm not sure of the source of that impression. It would be neat if both Paige and Azzi came back (someone would have to walk on and pay their own tuition, which for these kids is chump change. No need for a Go Fund Me page).

They’ll usually live stream on the UConn+ app.

MilfordHusky: you have been right so many times in the past, that I'm counting on your post being correct. Thanks for the info.

I am still thinking we may try to get Caroline a minute or two of game time. And we may even talk to the Marquette coach before the game and explain what we are trying to accomplish with her. And ask for matador defense on Caroline.

All is good with the Hulu Live schedule for the 27th, the Creighton game is now listed in the guide.

And, as noted elsewhere, there is the lure of a more profitable WNBA contract if Azzi delays her signing by a year until 2026.
This is an interesting factor I had not previously thought of. With the major increases in attendance, TV ratings and the Caitlin Clark factor, the new contract is likely to be way way better than the old one. Someone like Clark being stuck with the existing rookie contract for several years is a real negative.

This could be a factor for several draft eligible players this year, Miles?, Betts has already said she will return etc. The one downside of waiting a year, might be that it could delay by one year when a top WNBA player could first test free agency. But who knows, the new contract might reduce the length of time a rookie is under contract to the team that drafts them too.

Anyway all things considered, I think you raise a very interesting point that could indeed cause several players to return that might not have otherwise.

That was exactly what happened in 1998 when Nykesha Sales was allowed to score her 2178th point to break the UConn WBB career scoring record. Sales had ruptured her Achilles tendon and would otherwise be unable to play, falling just 1 point short of the all time scoring record, held by Kerry Bascom at that time.

Geno worked out a deal with his good friend Harry Paretta, the HC at Villanova, to allow Sales to make an uncontested layup, after which Villanova was allowed to make their own uncontested layup, at which point Sales returned to the bench and the real game began.

There was a lot of controversy about that agreement between Geno & Harry Perretta. But for the most part, it was widely supported by UConn fans.
